? about shifting (my first week learning)
when shifting gears, should i still be pressing the gas slightly when i apply the clutch? or should i be completely off the gas?
and does it apply the same way when i release the clutch? to make the ride smoother, i know i have to ease the gas as im releasing the clutch in first and 2nd, but wasnt sure if it was good/bad to in 3rd and higher
i gotta get these down before i break my new car!

clutch in - shift into first gear - release clutch slowly while giving a little gas near engagement - clutch out - gas only at this point
to shift into second
no gas - clutch all the way in - shift into 2nd - release clutch slowly while giving a little gas near engagement - clutch out - gas only at this point
repeat.

thanks~
shifting into 2nd is similar to getting started in first, but with less gas. 3-6 i don't push the gas pedal until fully engaged usually. just depends on your driving style. practice and you should be able to shift smoothly.
while you're fully engaged in a gear you don't want to be on the clutch. you can also read about techniques on the web. heel-toe, toe-heel for more advanced stuff.
