Door lock module/actuator dead

I have an 03 coupe with about 54,000 miles on it. The power to my driver's side door lock slowly died over the course of a couple of days. Now I have to manually lock/unlock the door. Of course I'm very pissed off about this. This shouldn't happen to a car that's a little over 4 years old. Now that my warranty period is over I guess I gotta shell out money to the dealership for this bs problem. I feel like writing a complaint letter to Infiniti on this. Am I justified? I don't recall hearing this happen to any other g35 owners.

my passenger did this a couple months back and my driver side was just replaced yesterday.. I have an 03 coupe too.. how long has your warranty been over, they might do it under warranty if its very recent

the part # that the dealer replaced is 80501-AM80A

hope that helps in anyway

Thanks for the responses guys...I guess I'm not alone. My warranty was up this past February, but I still think this is an unreasonable amt of time for a part like this to be replaced.

yeah ,i just replaced mine, and i have 44k on my car,it cost me 175.00 canadian for the part and about 1 hour to install, mind you i work on nissans for a living, but it is really easy to do the only scary part is removing the window but it is easy for a newbie if you go slow.

What are the signs of this happening? I know my lock started to lock and unlock itself but that was about a week ago and has been fine since then.

Well in my case I initially noticed that the lock would only turn half or part of the way, or need 2 pushes of the button to fully turn.

Unfortunately is is an issue with these cars and the dealer charges a ton for parts and labor. PM pythonjosh here on the forums. He has an aftermarket kit he sells for about $45. I installed mine a few weeks ago and it's working great.

Can't speak for that $5 thing but I went with the kit from pythonjosh a couple years ago and it's still going strong.
