Should I prepare for a long wait???
Should I prepare for a long wait???
Ok here we go. I negotiated a good deal put down the deposit and got a call from the dealer the next day. "We found your fully loaded G35 6MT coupe Diamond Graphite in and out but it has XM Radio which we know you didn't want, will you take it??" After accepting I was congratulated and told that they were bringing it in from Pittsburgh and it will be here next week. Today when I called to ask if they would install the aluminum pedals if I brought them out and left them at the dealership I was told "sure, but we're still trying to find you a car, the one we mentioned was unfortunately unavailable!!!" Should I get use to this???
Re: Should I prepare for a long wait???
it's a hit or miss. many dealerships are selling 6mtc's that they ordered for their inventory, before they hit the floor. they either have new customers come in or they call people waiting for orders. all dealerships get these lists which show other dealerships, but, they don't know if the orig dealer has a new cust or not.
good luck

Re: Should I prepare for a long wait???
Personally, I would be a little torqued off that they didn't call to tell me the one they promised wasn't really available. In some circles (not necessarily in cars), it is called "bait and switch". Especially since they should have known that answer about 2 minutes after you accepted (since that is when they should have grabbed the car). not a week later.
Anyhoo, it may happen again. Next time make them call you back immediately to confirm that the car is yours, and then get the VIN from them.
Just my $.02. YMMV.
