G vs. 350Z today

350Z was an AT/touring I do beleive (had 18's)...
We were neck and neck off the line through 1st gear until @ 6000 RPM ,I nosed ahead. Into 2nd gear I nose ahead a little more. At this point my front wheel is just ahead of his front bumper. toward the end of 2nd gear @ 5000 RPM my door is just ahead his front bumper. We both broke it off after we finished 2nd gear. He looks over at me rols his window down and says: DAAAAAAYUMN!! Gives me a salute (a respectfult salute) and takes off.
I was impressed with my G(or else lucky)

good kill... but the 350z must not know how to drive cuz the car is lighter and is more of a sports car. Anyone have RB motoring new dvd? the 350z came in first and right behind was the 350gt. Anyways good kill... i can't wait until i get my car to race my 2 friends with 350z.

The two cars are close enough in performance that the difference between on example of each and another could make or break a race. If you were both driving AT with the tranny in "drive" though, he really should have won. Were you shifting manually? Maybe that was the difference, if he wasn't.

The 350z is a tad faster than the Gcoupes .. Isn't that an established fact (all conditions held on a standard of course).

Yes, i do agree that the 350Z is faster on a standard course, but on a street its going to come down to who got a better launch, and as mentioned before, whos using the Manual shift mode.

In this case, the G has a Z-tube and K&N. That should count for something...

Re: G vs. 350Z today

The difference in weight and HP between the two is negligible and shouldn't be the difference.

It'll come down to mods/tires/driver ability.

(I hope you're taking it to the track to settle the deal with your buddies.)

I have had a similar encounter with a Auto 350Z (stock). We roled from about 20-25mph. My G is manual (also stock). I started out from 2nd, at the end of 2nd i had about a nose on him, end of 3rd i was about a half a car distance in front, by mid 4th i could see his headlights in my rearview mirror. As far as i can tell it was a fair start.
