I've never tried buying or selling a car on Ebay, but looking at the G35 listings caused me to throw up my hands in disgust. Their auctions are almost all priced several thousand below their book value, but almost all are subject to reserves that are never met. The morons bid up to $26k-$27k on all the cars, regardless of features and mileage, and then stop, apparently distracted by the next guy who comes along with a below reserve price that isn't at $26k yet. I guess the dealers who use Ebay just throw them up there at ridiculous prices hoping someone will get attached to their car in the bidding process and click "Buy It Now." If they don't, no skin of their back. Someone like me has no chance of getting a good price on his car, and even if I do I'd probably get a deadbeat bidder who refuses to pay when he notices a similar car for auction at another unrealistic price (and untouchable reserve). Meanwhile I'd get stuck with Ebay's fee whether he pays or not. I think the only time I'd try to use Ebay to sell my car is if I have an absolute base model with decent mileage, since its bids will get drawn up towards nearly the same level as the better equipped cars.

Yeah, selling late model cars on ebay sucks. You pay $40+options and the first deadbeat bidder that comes along ups your fee by another $40.
I've had great luck selling classic cars on e-bay however.

I paid $29.8K from an Infiniti dealer in December. 2003, 7.1K miles, everything except Nav.

I purchased my USED 2003 coupe on Ebay almost a year ago in March 2003 when the coupe was EXTREMELY difficult to come by without putting in an order and waiting 4-5 months.

It was a loaded 6MT with only 250 miles!!! Options were premium package, aero package, navigation. I don't recall the exact ending bid, but I do remember it was $2600 less than new MSRP and the shipping across the half the country was $700, <font color=red>so I saved $1900 and 4 months waiting </font color=red>by finding it on ebay. That was probably the best deal available back then. The first owner (rich guy with 4 other cars) had ordered and purchased it when Infiniti was taking preorders for it and decided his body was too big for it after 250 miles, so he put it on ebay just to get rid of it.
