03 g35 w/ g37 engine??

I recently purchased a Black/Black Coupe 6MT...Now I only paid 18 grand for it..But previous owner kept the car in pretty much shi tty shape. I felt like I could restore it. So now im getting a fresh paint job still going to be obsidian black. Debating on ripping the seats out and placing new ones in. Taking the dashboard and cluster and console out and placing the 07 model oem parts in. The Windows were tinted so im not sure if i want to leave them on. But the weather stripping on the windows has to be replaced and debating on a new winshield for the front. Now for the engine..The engine has 55k on it...Since im restoring the body with Ings+1 lip kit..The exterior is pretty much solid. Now I know the G37 is comming out..I pretty much was saving to turbo the car as well. But the 330 stock g37 engine has me drooling! So im asking the forum fellas what do i possibly need to install the g37 engine in my g35 coupe. What needs to be swapped out and will i have to change my whole tranny and everything

I'm 100% certain it's possible given the funds. In college I knew a guy that dropped in a Buick Turbo 3800 into his BMW M3.

I doubt you'll have to swap trannies, but I'm pretty sure it's cheaper to just go with a turbo or S/C solution, then to try to swap in a VQ37.

by the time you drop the money to do the conversion you can buy a new one and build a custom tt setup

you have to extend the frame (obviously) and get a larger motor mount. swap a g37 with our stock mounts, we're going to have a leaning motor.

I would rebuild the stock VQ35 block with aftermarket goodies and add FI. Doesn't sound like you got a good deal though...18k for a beat-down 03. Paint alone will be 5-6k for a good shop...I think you should have just got a newer G...

I know you got the car at a steal, but after all the repairs/restoration, you would have been better off with a mint $26,000 car and started from there with the modifications.....

A descent paint job will set you back at least $5,000. Then all the other misc. repairs/restoration will put you right back in the price range for an average to mint vehicle.....

Unless your doing all the work yourself, it will end up about the same cost....

As far as the motor swap, I'm sure it would be possible, but given the fact the production just started, I'm not sure it would be too easy to find a complete short block at this point and time....but who knows, with enough money.....anything is possible.

Best of luck with your project.

Engine is larger than the current engine and its pretty noticeable. Just look at the 07 350z and its got an ugly hood to be able to fit just the new 3.5L HR. The 3.7L HR has the variable valve timing on both intake and exhaust so it has added parts to it...it might not even fit in the 07 G35 sedan?

DDamn...5-6K for paint alone? I was thinking 2-3K! Ouch! Originally I was going to find agood silver one and have it painted ivory pearl since silver is the easiest color to find with G35s but after doing the math, its cheaper to search for someone who wants to let their IP go. Those usually sell higher though...(damn I just thread jacked...I was thinking about the paint cost)

For the car itself, TT or SC it and you should be all set to take on BMW 335i

The VQ35 had VVT on intake and exhaust since 05' in the revvup motors. Perhaps you meant variable lift on the intake.
