Grinding 6th

Well, like many on here my coupe started grinding 6th gear. My car only has 37K on it but the 4 yr warranty expired in June I talk to my service manager and he said that it is most likely the synchros and that would be covered under the powertrain warranty. I hope it is and not something like my clutch (which feels fine anyway). I've got an appt on Monday morning where I am taking a ride with a tech so I can replicate the noise for him. Atleast I'll be driving around a 07 sedan for a couple days

Talk about timing on your car. I searched and read about 20 posts of similar problems. I have a very good relationship with my service manager and I was thinking it shouldn't be a problem to get it replaced, scoring a free new clutch would be nice as well, but from the other posts it seems like 1 out of 4 gets the clutch for free. Hmmm, I wonder how much they would charge to put in a JWT clutch/flywheel combo since they will already have it apart.

Went for a ride with the tech this morning and he said it sounds like its coming from within the transmission. So the service mngr said they will determin what needs to be done once they open the tranny, but most likely I'll be getting a new trans.

Prolly alot of labor cash if they decided to do it. Best luck going elsewhere imo.

I asked the tech this morning if the clutch and/or flywheel needs to be replaced how much would they charge me to put in the aftermarket one. He said since the transmission will already be apart, his computer said 1.5 labor hours or about $140-$170.

Well, I picked up my car last night and here's what took place:

Replaced trans - Warranty
Replaced clutch - Warranty
Pressure plate, throw out bearing, and labor for these = $379.

My clutch seems really really soft right now and grabs lower than before (not sure if I like it yet) however, the shifter is buttery smooth.
