Hi all,
I am getting ready to install (better say, get it installed) my new stereo system. I do not want to give up all my trunk space for a stereo system. Now, my idea was to replace the full spare tire for a doughnut spare tire, this will give me some additional room for a couple of amplifiers. Does anyone know if there are any doughnuts that will fit our cars? Any other ideas of places inside a G35 Coupe to stash a couple of amplifiers? I would like to keep the installation as stealthy as possible.

Thanks in advance for the help.

I though doughnuts came with the car? I've got my spare (doughnut) sitting in my closet. 145/80D18 with a mean offset.

Edit: If your looking for a place to stash an amp you could take a look at the weight reduction thread. I've got pictures in there with the majority of the interior ripped out.

^^^Yea i think that the G does only come with a doughnut. Some people (even though it isnt the best idea!) have removed the spare and just replaced it with a can of fix-a-flat. Also if you are lookin for more room look at the 4080 box for the trunk, it is made just for the G and looks great.

You know what's kinda funny, my buddy and I were out test driving some cars a few weeks ago because he is considering buying a used EVO... and while we were testing the RX-8, I noticed that that car doesn't have a spare tire at all. They just give you a fix-a-flat kit... so that they can cut down on the extra weight of a spare tire/donut. Seems like a stupid idea to me. If you really need the weight that balanced for a track event or whatever... remove the spare before the event, but I bet a lot of RX-8 Drivers have been left stranded by an unfixable tire-blowout.

So, I was looking around the spare tire and there are two structures next to it. On the right you have the jack and the things that come with it. But I don't know what is the black box to the left of the spare. Anyone knows? Is this something I could remove to gain some amp space?

The one on the left side houses the factory Bose amplifier.

Have you browsed all the threads started by 16psibrick? He has done quite a few installs for members here, and I'm sure they'll give you some ideas for your own install.

I agree, its a bad idea with tire pressure sensors...I have my spare out and sitting in my garage. If I ever need anything, roadside assistance will do.
