Wow, lost to a G

Hey all, I just signed up here and I drive an 03 TL type S. Last night I was turning right at a light just when the other light turned green and I saw this flash of silver/gray and it was a G35 coupe. So I slowed and he caught up to me and he must have seen me looking at it because he floored and then I did too. That car has an amzing exhaust roar, and while I consider my car pretty quick, especially for a big sedan, it didn't stand a chance. I have to give you all props. You guys have amazing cars. When he pulled a car length ahead (easily) I was just admiring the rear three quarter view, wow, it was so clean. I was happy enough to just to keep up somewhat but definitely the G35 coupe is amazingly fast and a great car. Just wanted to tell you guys that you have earned my respect. Maybe the G driver posts here? I am in KC.

Anyways, I am going to the Infiniti dealer TODAY to see about trading up for one. I know you guys like the rarity of your cars, so I apologize in advance if I get one.

Have a good weekend everyone! Wish I had a G35 coupe to enjoy mine with!

Don't apologize...I would like to think that we always welcome new addition(s) to our G family. Good Luck.

Re: Wow, lost to a G

hehe yea I dirve a 2003 TL (non type-S;stock) and i would have to say its a granny mobile compared to my coupe (modified). I bet that VTEC helps alot in the upper range though... I just couldnt justify sending another 2k+ for the extra HP when I already had a coupe. I like both cars but they are in a different class of their own though (coupe is not a sedan and vice versa) [although the G sedan is quite fast in and of itself!] Sometimes I actually prefer driving the TL though, much more comfortable ride since I had the Tein Flex coilovers on my coupe...in any case would like to say hi and welcome to the boards....

I traded my 02 CL-S for my 04 G35C. As far the the difference in the cars, it is night and day. I would do it again in a minute. However, I have been dealing extensively with the local dealer and have NOT been satisfied at all. If you would like some info, send me a PM.

Re: Wow, lost to a G

Well...
we'll hopefully be officially welcoming you as a member soon.
I also had an '02 TL Type S, and loved every minute in that car. With the headers and intake, that car was a pretty quick bugger for a sedan. And quite honestly the navi in that car is far easier to use and better in most ways. It was all fun and games until my transmission went out.

While it was at the dealer getting the tranny replaced under warranty....took my nice Green solara rental car and mosied on over to the Infiniti Dealership to test drive a G coupe 6MT for kicks. That's where everything changed... a minuted before getting there, I couldn't wait to get my TL back from the dealer....then about 20 minutes later...I'm asking if they're willing to take the custom wheels off the Obsidian Black 6MT coupe on the showroom to make the deal. Found myself thinking..."the dealer can keep my TL as long as they want."
Well the dealer said no dice on taking the wheels off (they wanted their $5k they were charging for the 18" custom wheels <ridiculous>) so off i went and put a deposit down elsewhere that was willing to order one for me. I end up getting my car 2 months early due to someone ordering the same car and not being able to get financed.

Contemplated on whether to keep my TL-S as well..but quickly found it collecting dust in the garage as the G got all the attention. Finally decided to get rid of it a couple months ago as I quickly realized my love for the TL had transferred over to the G (esp. after that tranny fiasco )

If you don't mind less passenger space, less cargo space, 2 less doors...you will not regret the switch...but be warned, once you test drive, you won't see images of your TL dancing in your head, that's for sure

I second volkracing's post. I also had an 02 TL-S. When I got the Coupe, I gave the Acura to my wife. No regrets.

Re: Wow, lost to a G

I just traded my 03 TL-S for my G in november. I loved that car, but i had tranny problems and so i traded it in. It's a quick car but i dont think it can beat a g. I mean, it can keep up and wont be left behind too much. My brother always used to beat me with his 6mt CL-S whenever we ran against each other. I still havent had the chance to race him with this car but i dont think there would be a big difference. My brother's car is unusually fast.

I like the TLs fine, just not as much as the G. Great cars all around.

Re: Wow, lost to a G

I also use to have a cl-s with Headers/CAI/Exhaust/Pulleys ...it was pretty damm quick, it probably would give a stock G35 a run for it's money. I'am glad the tranny went out though, it gave me a great excuse to get the g35 coupe

I like this video cls vs g35 coupe:

Re: Wow, lost to a G

Welcome to KC...Superior can be difficult to deal with. You have to travel a ways for more options and they know it. Mine was delivered February of 2003, so I didn't have to bother with dealing. There were no deals at that time. :-)

Re: Wow, lost to a G

did you come over from the tl boards? I originally wanted a type-s but when I saw all of the transmission problems, I reconsidered. welcome to the forum
