Engine bay with chome Z-tube alternative.
Re: Engine bay with chome Z-tube alternative.
Also did a little painting. It was my first real experience painting anything. Turned out the red I used was a little lighter then stock, and I will redo it in a darker red some day.

Yeah, I have a drop-in filter now. Gotta put that sticker on there so the dealer doesn't throw it out!! Intake pipe is a little deeper then stock under heavy throttle (which is to be expected), but not as loud as I thought it was going to be. Personally, I think it looks better then the Z-tube since it is chrome, instead of black, so I decided to go with it instead.

No it's not a chromed Z-tube. Its just a metal tube. Only costs $30 on ebay. There is one out there now. Here's the link:

Only problem is, I needed to get about 3 inches cut off to fit with the stock airbox. Also, the breather hose which usually connects to the top, now connects to the bottom. I may need to cut some of that hose down too, b/c now there is too much slack in it and it crimps up a little. I've ran the engine for a while, and felt the tube just to see how much heat may be getting absorbed, and the tube doesn't get that hot at all.
