$20K Car

Hey guys. So I've been lookin around/researchin alot on this forum for some time now, and I've finally decided to get the Gcoupe. But my budgets at around $20k, so I'm lookin for an 04 with <60k miles.

Question is, am I making the right move here? Theres alot of other options for a used 20k car, and I just want to make sure I'm making the right choice. I did consider other cars like a 350z, 325ci/330ci, and z4, but in the end the G seemed most practical.

Also there seems to be alot more 03's around this price, but I want to avoid the first model year if possible- are the problems with 03's considerably high that I should avoid it completely? or should i be leaving it as an option in case an 03 with better mileage/options comes up?

Any input from all you experienced guys would help. TIA

you may have trouble finding a G coupe for around 20k, but you could get lucky!

i know 03s come with a 6 year 70k powertrain warranty so that should cover any problems u might run into....but as far as first year problems the only thing that really comes to mind is in the 6 speed and transmission grinds....but again its covered under the warranty and is also found in other years of the car... i just got a brand new updated transmission and clutch in my 03 with 67k on it under warranty..... oh and i payed 18k for my 03 with 67k on it a month ago.... in my area there was no g35 coupe in that price range that did not have a rebuilt title......

i think, oil consumption was only a problem with the (rev-up)298hp engines which is in the 05 and up. 03 and 04 had the (non-rev)280hp engines.

I'm in the Socal/LA area, and I see some 03's for 20k, some 04's for 23k, so i was shootin for an 04. But from u guys' responses i guess i should be considering 03's as well.

Besides that, any other cars you guys would consider for 20k besides the Gcoupe?

I just looked at todays paper and there's a silver '03 coupe for 20K. 17,000 miles. Probably an automatic. Hmm, I might check this out.

That just reminded me. I'm using autotrader to look for cars, but should I be searching on newspapers, magazines, etc. also? Seems to be alot of hassle but it might be cheaper.

Also yea the 350z was another option..but I duno if I can live with a 2seater as my only car.
