Stuck in 6th Gear-Update

my '05 MT is stuck in 6th gear, cant take it out, its just stuck, press clutch in and nothing. started the car, and it drives in 6th, shut the car off, press the clutch and can roll the car. I left the car in the garage in the city this morning, they parked it and left it in 6th and now it does not budge. I called roadside assistance and they are going to pick up the car tomorrow morning and tow it to dealer. did u guys ever come across a problem like that. Until now, i had no problems with car and clutch was fine. I dont think the clutch could have just died like that without giving me some sort of notice before. I tried moving the shifter with both hands and nothing, it just sits in gear.

UPDATE
Towed the car into dealership and they told me that the transmission is jamed in gear and that since they dont take apart transmissions they ordered and put the new tranny in under warranty.

When they were putting in the transmission they told me that my rogue short shifter was bent. Those idiots in the parking garage must have really tried to get the car out of gear with full force, but i still dont understand how can someone bend a half inch solid steel shifter. So i had to bring my oem shifter into the dealership to have them swap it. Now it feels like i am driving a bus b/c the oem shifter feels really high.

Just wanted to get back to you guys with an update. Thanks to those who replied.

Shouldn't be the clutch. Even if the clutch went out you can still technically pull it in a out of gear while the car is off. You can even rev match and shift without using the clutch.

My guess is something with the short shifter. I've sheered a bolt off on one before and got stuck in 3rd. (in my race car) and I thought I had really assed something up. Nope. Just a bolt.

Good luck, keep us informed.
