What's covered under 6yr/70K engine/drive train warranty?
After 4 years of ownership I'm approaching the end of my bumper to bumper factory warranty and heading into the so called 6 year 70,000 mile engine/drive train warranty. What I would like to know is what is actually covered other than the obvious engine, trans, drive axles, cv joints, and diff? I was told that parts of the fuel injection system are also included? There is nothing clear cut or written mentioning what other items are covered in addition to the obvious items listed. We can be sure that Infiniti is not volunteering this information.

I was in the same boat in May... chickened out and bought an Inf Elite 3yr+36K. got quoted 1770 locally... paid <$1100, no tax, thru Riverside. I'm 2000 miles from Riverside, we did it all in a 5 min call and by fax.
So far, with a malfunctioning 3rd brake light and seat frame issue, I'm $200 from getting my money back, after only 3 months.
Anyway, about the coverage... I'm on my second AC compressor and expect a 3rd soon due to rattling noise its making.. that wouldnt have been covered under the drive train of course. I've also seen mixed results on the ticking axle fix. Depends on the dealer, which tells me there may be coverage if the dealer is decent.
It appears alot of dealers let this fall under goodwill repair. My dealer told me that they would do alot of the common fixes for free out of the goodwill money.. and that Infiniti lets them do some OOW repairs, but... that goes against everything I've seen and heard. That may be why they treat it so secretively. But.. anyway, I sort of assumed it had to be internal to the engine... Anything directly connected. When I had my Nissan, they wouldnt cover coils under the drivetrain. or AC compressors.. or idler pulleys.. So I was going on my experience when I bought my extended.

My 4 year warranty expires in a month. I hope that, if necessary, the ext warranty I bought from the dealer 4 years ago works out (not the Infiniti warranty).
So far, I haven't had any warranty work done (just a recall). I had them look at a couple ittermittent items that they weren't able to fix.
I'm having them look at the klunking seat next week. Either a loose bolt or maybe a frame.

The reason I purchased an Infiniti this time instead of the German cars I had before is so that I could avoid having to purchase an extended warranty (mostly for electrical issues). The Japanese far exceed the european cars for electrics and although anything can go wrong, I feel confident that the car I chose with minimal frills will make it for a few more years without any major expenses. It is nice to know that my engine and drivetrain have a few more years of coverage. I have 23,000 miles after 4 years and no problems other than TSBs, tires, and of course rattles!

correction, I paid alittle over 1100.
Hmmm, you've been lucky. While I've been pretty picky, like having my cracked headlights replaced... and sunroof replaced for a bad seal, I totalled up right under 6K worth of warranty work when I hit 4 years and 35k. Thats window regulators.. ticking axles. AC compressor noise.. and so on.
I totally agree on the idea of not needing an extended warranty with Nissan.. but my 5/03 built coupe hasnt been that trouble free. Then again, I wouldnt part with it
