Re: Evo VIII and my G35 in the OC!!!

I have come to the realization that the only ones to blame for 16 or 17 or 18 year old kids having brand new 30k+ cars are their parents. If you are a teenager and your parents want to give you a brand new car, you'd be a moron to turn it down. When I was in high school there was a kid whose rents bought him a $45k lexus. He thought he was hot [censored] and his car ended up in a lake and he ended up with a broken arm... I just laughed at him every time i passed him in the hall. The point of the story is if you are stupid enough to give your kid a car that is fast enough to do something stupid in, they will show off and do something stupid in it. And if you are a teenager and you say ohhh i baby my car and i never do anything stupid in it... you are lying, because everyone of us have shown off one time or another. No one says you are a bad or a good driver when you are young. It is just a matter of inexperience and if you take offense to that you are ignorant and not worth talking to.

True that... hate writing that check every month to the bank. Things mean a lot more to you when you actually have to work for them. Worked for and restored my Charger myself just like I work every day for my house and G. I am more fortunate than others my age, but I came from virtually nothing and worked myself up.

Seriously, i really don't have anything against young kids driving a real expensive car from their parents. It's the parents' money and if they feel that their child deserves something that they have never had when they were younger, then by all means go for it. But honestly i think that this whole discussion evolved from the fact that Dragon stated that the driver of the evo was 16 and that he was as well. I don't think that was necessary due to the fact that being 16 is totally irrelevant to the story. In my eyes..stating something like that is just asking for the attention which is what we are witnessing now.

Re: Evo VIII and my G35 in the OC!!!

I don't understand how I'm a totally different person because I have a G35. So do all you guys in the forum? Do the less-fortunate people ask why they aren't getting to drive G35's? To blame it on you being arrogant, stupid, and what not. I hope not.

It is not within my power to ameliorate the stereotypes put forth by several members of our G community, so I will not make an attempt to. I will apologize though, on behalf of the kids who invented the stereotype in the first place. I care not how you judge myself through forums and posts, but I hope that you do not judge people you know based on such sterile and impersonal things.

In closing, I will admit that the reason I brought up age, a topic I've tried to avoid lately, is because of the age comments regarding the EVO. (How it was a kids car, etc. etc.) I actually thought it would be relevant to the telling of the story. In hindsight, I know now that it is a topic I will continue to avoid from henceforth. I'll finish with thanks to those who stood up for the rich, spoiled, ignorant, naive, arrogant, and ignominious kid who, by some misfortune, drives the same car as yourselves. Enjoy, and drive safe all.

And the award for best use of a thesaurus in a post goes to..........DragonGcoupe

Actually Dragon, your post was well thought out and I am impressed that you obviously cared enough to try and get your post to convey a good and positive message. I do not think anyone here intends to make you feel like you are less of a person or imply that you are totally different because you are young and have a great car, but many people who have worked their keisters off to afford this car might harbor some level of resentment. My first impression was similar to many who slammed you, as heck I am jealous that you're 16 and are driving the same car I do. You see I lived and slept in my old old car (RIP) while working my way through college for several months. For me this car represents finally making my way from sleeping in my beater Mazda 323 to a point in my life I can afford a fine car. I go into my garage sometimes just to look at the car and I will never forget where I've been, nor could I even if I wanted to. Can you and I equally appreciate the G35? No, but that's not your fault and many here like me won't hold that against you. Just realize that there are people on this board who have put off vacations and saved money over many years to be able to make their purchase. We are all different people with many different stories. And I for one am thankful for that and for my G35!

guys... i'm 16, and my DAD is buying me a G coupe... i dont see whats wrong with that... i am going to help pay for it cause ill feel like a complete [censored] if i just make my dad buy me a luxury car without helping him pay for it... you dont havta make us "kids" feel stupid just cause you're older and more "deserving," i don't think age should matter in appreciating and respecting something

Re: Evo VIII and my G35 in the OC!!!

ok.. this is going to be my last post here about "kids driving cars"

you two "dragon and tah" need to go n learn what respect is... most of the members are alot older than us, some of them are older than your mommys n daddys... do you talk to ur mom n dad like that? they dont need to hear lil "blah blahs" from youngins like us...

ur parents bought the G for you? good for you! i got nothing against it... im sure other members has no prob w/ you 16 year old kids driving a G coupe... but, I DO have a problem w/ you, when im paying EVERY single $ of my car and you start saying something like "HI! im 16! n i drive a G35!"... i dont care if you are paying "part" of it... its not ur car, its ur mommy's or daddy's... just dont rub it... and yes age matters... you are not driving a cheap car...

'I worked for my G and you didn't...' Blah, Blah, Blah... Some finance company probably owns your G and his daddy owns his... What's your point?

Re: Evo VIII and my G35 in the OC!!!

agreeing with xkoraznboix here, although all the 16 yrs old claim that they are "paying for some of it" (not saying all do but most) "pay" for the car from their allowance..and where do allowance come from ? "the parents" ..so u see u havent' realli pay for any of it, it's all ur parents.

i dont' have a problem with a 16 yr old drivin a g35 as well, i just think u should appreciate a lil more and not so much of those "i am 16, so what my parents bought me the car" attitude

Re: Evo VIII and my G35 in the OC!!!

let me say first off that i am 20, young myself, and my parents did buy my sedan for me. dude, this conversation has gone way too far, or at least this should be titled "young vs. old." all of you are making the mistake of assuming that age groups are all the same. there are different types of respect and thus, all can be shown a different way. some older people that own G's can have worked their butts off for it, and that's totally respectable. i too know what it is out in the working world. i have worked with a company called Walgreens out here in San Francisco during my school breaks from college (summer, winter etc.) and i have risen to managerial ranks, during my 6 years there, and boy, was that not easy. the company has learned to respect me as a worker and thus have shown me their appreciation for what i have done. i know the value of a dollar and see how hard it is to put two kids into college and have them still live with them. my parents are the two best people in my life. my point is, is that there are differences in environments in which we grow up. the problem is, is that we as people judge and assume the faults of others when we don't really know those people that we judge, very well at all. i see usernames, the way people type and talk as it is expressed in their typing. i see letters of the keyboard, not faces that i can remember, eyes that i cannot look into. everyone in this membership has grown up and have been raised in such different environments with parents, neighborhoods, schools, education, and experiences. i am only 20, but u cannot tell me that i do not have the respect and appreciation for my car or other people as your coupe or sedan and others. just like me, u cannot see my face, u do not know my experiences, my environment. i live in the mission district near hunters point, and to those of you that know the area in SF, that's not a place to easily grown up and live in and i am thankful that my family and i have not had any incidents instead of a couple broken into cars. i have been educated in school and have experienced what i am learning, the social and psychological world. i dont mean to bring race in this conversation but it is important. as a minority i have seen many things in my life that i have risen against. people of other race and cultures cannot experience these things just as i cannot experience others. thus, we have grown to appreciate and respect in different ways. and this goes to the young attacking the older aged as well. we do not know them either, they have been through things that we haven not, perhaps the vietnam war, etc etc. but we see different things and thus, experiences are different, respect and appreciation are different. we should all show it, and i'm sure we do, if others dont see it, it's just another way of them not expressing it in that same way, just as there are different emotions in different cultures.

do not put a label on someone until you know them, until you see their face, and not letters and words on a computer screen, for all you see, is a username, and in society, i'm sorry to say, some believe that that is all you need to critize with. too bad it's like that. we should all live in a better one, hopefully we can start here from now on
