I downshift and upshift regularly, just went to Nissan for fluid and differ change.....asked the tech to look and tell me any issues.....didn't find any shavings or burnt fluid...I also took a glance at the fluid pumped out..nice and red...I'm at 56k....just be smart with it....

No problem downshifting. If you weren't supposed to downshift then Nissan (and every other car maker) could easily prevent it, just like locking out reverse when moving forward.

No point in downshifting an auto just like there's no point in downshifting a manual. You could always just step on the brakes, right?

I use tiptronic all the time and the car has 53,000 miles. No problems so far and if I ever encounter one, I'm covered by Infiniti's extended warranty

I got all of you guys beat i am at 105k and use manual mode everyday. I downshift pretty aggressivly (4-5krpms) and brake while coming to a stop. also mine is 2003 coupe. I keep hearing on and off things about doing a tranny flush so i have not done it yet cause my car still shifts perfect. Also i noticed if i tap the gas right before i downshift the car will rev match. has anyone done this?? it sounds insane but i want to make sure this is not hurting the car.

also did you have to do a rebuild so far?

52,000 miles is like 83,000 kilometers and thats about 4 years of driving for me

I have the original dealer window sticker, and it does include rev-matching on the list of features on my car.
