Should I trade in my G35C for Boxster?
Re: Should I trade in my G35C for Boxster?
I've never driven either but I heard that repairs on a Porsche are expensive .I wouldn't consider one unless it was a Boxster S.

If I had a choice of Boxster (including S), Z4, and S2000... I would probably get either S2000 or the Z4. Obviously many don't like the Z4's design and I don't like it too much either. S2000 is probably my top choice. You can't really compare G35 coupe and Porsche Boxster beacause it's Coupe vs Roadster. If you want to get your face burned all the time.. I would get a roadster...

Apples and oranges.. The Boxster is nice, but I wouldn't go for the Boxster unless it was the S. The S2000 is cool, but I don't know if I'd want to have to wring the thing out all the time to get it to go. You'll be missing just a little torque if you go with the S2000 over the G35C.
I personally like the Z3 over the Z4 styling wise. I haven't driven either, but I hear that the Z3 feels much more like an old roadster with a ton of character and the Z4 is better, but just doesn't have that drivers feel by comparison. I don't know.. I haven't driven either, so I don't know. I do really like the M Roadster (Z3) though.
None of these cars is going to be nearly as versitle as the G35C. To me, the G35C feels a lot like the E46 M3 and that's a hell of a compliment if you ask me.
It's your call.. Definitely get a ride in one of these cars first before you make a decision to sell your G35C because it's a hell of a car.

Re: Should I trade in my G35C for Boxster?
same as any other car you get bored as time pass by, but think about this if you buy a porche you think you wont get bored after 6 months?, G35C is my first semi luxury/sport car and when I get bored at least you can always add mods to it to give it a new attitude, more like a computer after you upgrade to higher CPU its comparable as the new ones..can you mod a porche without paying high $$$?

I think the boxster is due for some change pretty soon. The market is beginning to eat it up (even the S). I think you would be dissapointed/bored with every aspect of your boxter (other than handling) fairly quickly.
If you can afford an extra 10g's. And it sounds like you can. I would step up, get the 911 and be the envy of all. If you can't go that steep then you shouldnt be looking at a boxster either, they creep up there real quick.
What about a TT, or M3. I also think the Z4 is supposed to be amazing. Ofcourse there is the BMW 6 series coming soon too. and then .... and then ... what was your question again???

Re: Should I trade in my G35C for Boxster?
I just remembered. I remember a guy on the M3 boards that went from a S2000 to a Boxster S to a M3 convertible. He said that he was sad that he ever traded his S2000 for the Boxster S and he likes his M3 convertible better than all 3.
BTW.. The S2000 is in the price range of the coupe, but the other cars that you mention aren't, unless you're talking "preowned".

Re: Should I trade in my G35C for Boxster?
Thanks guys and gals. Now you give me a border selection to my choices. I won't mind putting in another $10k to get a better ride car. I don’t care too much about HP and instead I want it to be fun and less noisy. So a convertible is my choice. I am not comparing G35C to a Boxster. I know they are two different cars. Just want to know what you guys think of the Boxster. Is it good in it class?
My Coupe is Dessert Platinum 5AT with Willow Leather and Premium Package. I have it since the first week of November. Now it has 7K miles on it. Here is my opinion to what I like and don't like about the car.
What I like:
1. The Look
2. The Style
3. The Performance
4. The attentions from other Drivers
What I don’t like:
1. The wind noise at high speed
2. The roar sound was fun for the first month and now it starts to get annoying.
3. Gas Mileage is suck
Any input is appreciated,
Thanks again..

Re: Should I trade in my G35C for Boxster?
Your cons you put for the coupe will also be concerns for a boxster. They are porsches (with just as noisy engines), the wind noise will be worse for a convertible. From your pros and cons, I would consider
330i Convertible
CLK convertible
Audi TT
these are more luxury style cars that still have a sporty appeal and performance. From what you have been saying. Boxster would not be a good choice.

Re: Should I trade in my G35C for Boxster?
1. The wind noise at high speed
Not sure what car doesn't have wind noise at high speed. Not any car i've riden in. Also what is you definition of high speed? I don't notice wind noise until 80+ mph.
2. The roar sound was fun for the first month and now it starts to get annoying.
The car is loud. Boxster will sound very similiar though. Maybe you should be looking to get a luxury sedan if engine and wind noise bother you. My friend has a Cadillac DeVille, no noise at all. Smooth as silk but it seems like the car is driving you and not the other way around.
3. Gas Mileage is suck
I'm in agreement here. My milage still sucks, but that's because i like to mash the fun pedal. If you drive conservatively you can get fairly good milage.

What they said!
Your 4 "pros" will be the exact same and your 3 "cons" will also!
If you don't care about HP and want a conv, get an slk230/320, 3series conv, Saab, etc.
