Clear corners

Re: Clear corners
There is a DIY that shows how to replace the clearance strip light, it has lots of good information. There is another thread right HERE with lots of pics (I personally tried 5 different sets) of bulbs in the clearance strip.
Here's the CA code, which is reflected in many states. It may not be necessarily enforced in any particular area, but if you are stopped for something else it may get piled on:
Clearance and Side-Marker Lamps
25100. (a) Except as provided in subdivisions (b) and (d), every vehicle 80 inches or more in overall width shall be equipped during darkness as follows:
(1) At least one amber clearance lamp on each side mounted on a forward-facing portion of the vehicle and visible from the front and at least one red clearance lamp at each side mounted on a rearward-facing portion of the vehicle and visible from the rear.
(2) At least one amber side-marker lamp on each side near the front and at least one red side-marker lamp on each side near the rear.
Personally, if I could find a better amber match to the stock corner, I'd put an amber in the clearance, as shown above. I think it looks the best with just the parking lights on.

Re: Clear corners
Hmmm, I just thought about the 80" width requirement. The G is clearly less than that . . . I'll review the code again.

Re: Clear corners
There is a thread in the DIY section.
You really don't need to jack up the car. I didn't.
1. Turn wheel to one extreme so that it exposed wheel well
(while working on driver side lights, turn steering wheel clockwise...I think that's right....you get the idea)
2. Using flathead screwdriver, pop off plastic clips on front plastic wheel well. Remove 2 screws from top of wheel well at about 11:30 and 10 o'clock of wheel well on border of body trim.
3. Pull down front wheel well piece of plastic. ( there are 2 pieces of plastic that make up wheel well, front one is tucked under back palstic piece) You don't have to pull it down all the way, just enough to see the clearence light ?red? plastic
rectangular bracket.
4. Turn ?red? rectangular bracket counterclockwise and slowly remove bulb housing which is attached to bracket.
5. Using a clean latex glove, remove stock bulb and replace with your wedge 168 PIAA or whatever bulb as your hands are full of muck from messing with the dirty wheel well.
6. Carefully reinsert bulb bracket into hole and turn clockwise to lock into place.
7. At this point, you can secure your clear corners with ducatiguy's clear corner antitheft mod.
8. replace the plastic wheel well and put in screws and clips.
**NOTE: I am doing this from work from my memory so counterclockwise may actually mean clockwise and I think the clearance strip light bracket was red. lol You get the idea. ONce you do one side, you'll fly through the opposite bulb replacement on the other side.
