Rear Squatting

I noticed that it appears the rear end is starting to squat. Top of rear tires are tilted in. I do not remember it always being this way. Anyone else notice this. I have about 18,000 miles on the car. I remember my old vette doing this and perhaps this is normal with an independant rear. If not, what can be done to correct it? I know on my vette I had to do 4 wheel alignments but can't recall if they adjusted the camber. I have a concern that this will wear the inside edge of the tires.

Re: Rear Squatting

our cars have agressive camber settings, it is normal. you just probably noticed it recently, but it was always like that. if you were to correct it the car would not corner as well. as far as the tire wear i just replaced my tires and the insides were worn a little more than the rest but it did not kill the tires.

Re: Rear Squatting

TGS,
I noticed this when the Coupe was new, but I've deleted the pics now and forgotten the measurements I took then.
I did measure the amount of camber now (with 11k on the car) and the rear is: 1.375", and the front is 0.875". (top of wheels tilted in).
I can't tell if the insides of the tires are wearing quicker, but I imagine it's unavoidable tho hopefully minimal.

Re: Rear Squatting

my G35 sedan sure looks like the back wheels are tilted, doesnt that help the handling somewhat?

Re: Rear Squatting

I'm sure antrock is probably right, but I honestly never noticed how much camber there was before. I also thought the back end was sitting lower than before though. Next oil change I will have it checked.

I wouldn't tinker with this unless there was something wrong. I love the handling and cornering. Makes sense that it is designed like this for a reason.

Re: Rear Squatting

telegramsam,
also keep in mind the rear tires are taller than the front on the 18" package causing a smaller wheel well gap in the rear compared to the front.
