Buying private or from a dealer

I am looking to purchase a used g35 or 350z probably by the end of or begining of next year. I think I am leaning toward the g35, but the 350z is cheaper. i'm ony 25 and single so i dont think I care too much about having a back seat since i rarely have anyone in my car now.
I know buying private would find me a cheaper pricer on a car but my only worries would be is that oil consumption problem the motors have. with a dealer i can possibly get a CPO car or one with a decent extended warranty, compared to if its private i have to deal if it has it.
Also if i do go to a dealer for the purchase can the non infiniti dealers get an extended warranty or CPO as if it was purchases from inifiniti. or should i just go straight to infiniit?
So is the oil consumtion problem happening to a lot more people than what we see on this site? I was looking for maybe 03-06 for the models.
Also I have never seen any CPO from nissan...do thay have that?

Any ideas or suggestions? I am in the DC/MD/VA area so if you know any places for good deals let me know.

The oil consumption issue will be handled regardless of where you purchase the vehicle. Do not quote me on this, but I have heard that they will look into it even if you are past your warranty period.
