Re: I liked my Coupe so much....

That is where I bought my G35 C 6MT. Now that I need to sell or trade it they will only give me 27,500 for it with 9000 miles. Not gonna happen. They say it's b/c it's a 6MT. Funny that when I bought it they say that that was the best seller and best for holding it's value. Tell them thanks for the advice. Good luck with the new job though.

Why selling it? $27,500 for a 9k miles 6MT only?! Man you can get alot more by selling it thru ebay... but again why would u wanna sell it? So AT seem to hold its value more than the 6MT? Hmm... ~.~

That doesn't seem to make a lot of sense. Auto's are a dime a dozen compared to the manuals. Manuals are in even more limited production than the Auto's. Almost all I see at the dealers are Auto's whereas for many dealers they have very few 6MTs and having to order is common. Lack of supply will almost always drive the price up.

Re: I liked my Coupe so much....

as you know dealers will tell you anything to get you to buy. if you want auto they say that's the best. if you want 6MT then they say that is the best and in this case it is price wise. when you go to sell, they gotta knock it like the crooks they are. i will not take 27.5k for a 7mo old car that i paid 38 for. maybe in a year. gonna just sell myself for 32ish. selling b/c getting married and need bigger car.

Re: I liked my Coupe so much....

Of course, I have to caveat all this with the "I will not release proprietary or business-sensitive information dealing with pricing, availability, yadda, yadda, yadda..."

Actually, buying my coupe at Infiniti of BR was the most pleasant car-buying experience I've ever been a party to...granted, I knew EXACTLY what I wanted...but even when it got to the nuts and bolts (I financed through IFS), I didn't feel like I had the screws put to me...

TN, it sucks that you're not getting what you want, in trade, for the Coupe...I know that, in a lot of other performance niches, ATs do hold their value better...regardless of the goodies we got on the 6MT Coupe. The reasons are many and varied, but it all gets back to the fact that a manual transmission isn't for everyone (in fact, it's for hardly anyone, it seems). The question I have is this--why are you getting out of such a nice car? I've been just peachy happy with mine.

As far as what it takes to get in to the car business...I don't know. I knew I didn't wanna be a directional driller any longer; I have a degree in Economics (which should count for something, right) and I'm a massive car geek...when I presented the owner of Infiniti of BR my credentials, we talked a lot about how the transition to sales could be tough, it's not for everyone, commitment required to make it work and the lot...and, he made sure I had plenty of time to think about it.

My thoughts go something like this: I'm going to get up everymorning, go work out and then go hang out around really nice cars--including a model I have full confidence in--and help people see the value in 'em...man, throw me in that briar patch...

Getting married - Not dying. Keep the car what is the rush to get a family sedan. I must assume kids are at least a few years out and to be sure youll have plenty of time for an automatic minivan. And whatever you do decide to do dont do it for your wife - otherwise you will really resent the choice down the road - do it because you really feel it is the right thing to do.

Wife, Minivan, 3 kids, Mortgage, great family and a really nice G35 6MT -
