Ok, is 950.00 rediculous for a tune up price this is coming from the infiniti dealership, and if it is does anyone know of any good shops in northern new jersey for a tuneup?

Just find out what they do & do it yourself OR bring it to a shop you trust and ask them to quate you on the same work done. You can also get all OEM parts prior to bringing it to the shop to save money. { order online }. Get a reciept when completed for documentation.

That's straight rape...no vasoline...$hit they could've at least spit to get you ready for the price. Seriously though if there is a local Valvoline in your area go there and they will do the same maitenance and service as the dealer for less than half the cost. I got my oil changed with synthetic, rear diff fluid changed, tranny fluid changed for 120.00. They also do serp belts as well too.

Doesn't "tune up" include spark plugs? Our cars don't call for a "tune up" until around 100,000 miles. My spark plug change cost me around $900, but it included new valve covers because the originals were toasted. (Another story!)

Do it yourself... it's easy, and cheap.

If you don't know how.. now is a better time than ever to learn. If you don't have any tools, go buy some and the combined cost of buying the tools and doing the tuneup yourself will still be about $600 cheaper than having the dealership do it at their $900 rate.. plus you'll always have those tools at your disposal for the next time you need to use them.

Didn't someone mention that you do not need a tune-up until 100,000 miles? If it is plugs you need to change, they are a little time consuming but pretty easy overall as long as you have a torque wrench. Have people needed to do tune-ups before they hit 100,000 miles? Why do you think you need one? Are you at or around a 100,000?

No, I'm at 57000 miles so I'll be fine till 100,000 right?

I am at 57,000 miles and all i changed was my spark plugs and the oil and filter change. I have not noticed any lagging at all.

$950 is high, but my local independent shop wanted $1000 for a tune up on my 96 Land Rover. The car was only worth $6000.

Ouch, just what you'd expect from land raper/rump rider. I know so many people who have range rovers and hate them, unreliable, but looks good, what a shame. I'd shop around,find out what they do,and look,pick up some parts yourself, my buddy is a tech,and he recommends the nissan fluids though save for oil if you are using synthetic.

Do it yourself bud! I cringe when I have to pay around 100 bucks for the OEM sparkplugs but i couldn't even imagine paying someone 900 for basically getting the minor stuff done to a car. Appalling!!!
