Change in polarity: Buidling my G35
Originally I bought my g35 because its essentially a 350z with a back seat. I wanted a sports car, but I still wanted to be able to transport my guitar, golf clubs, computer and other random crap from place to place.
I started stripping my G down. Removing sound deadening, BFG KDW tires(very loud, didn't care at the time), and other things that would make my G lighter or more barebones. Now before you say I'm an idiot; When I had my car in fully stripped mode it would give a long chirp in 3rd gear(about as much as it does now in 2nd gear). Thats with 1/4 tank of racing gas, no back seat, trunk stripped except bose amp, and fresh ecu reset. It was a BEAST.
I'm regretting my decision. I'm starting to look at the cars here on g35driver and I realize that these things are kinda trivial. Lately I haven't even been going past 4000 rpm.
What I've decided is to focus more on comfort and looks for a while. Meanwhile, saving for a ST or TT setup. I've realized that having 100 pounds of fatmat isn't going to make much of a difference in a 400hp car. Especially since I don't track the car in any way.
My plan:
1. FATMAT the entire car. Remove every rattle
2. Finish custom head and tail light project(Quad projectors, dual ring led tails)
3. Tint all 5 back windows with 5% tint, windshield with light 50% or 35% tint.
4. Install comfort based after market seats(stockers are uncomfortable for me)
5. Purchase Porter Cable and cut paint to get a smooth coat
6. Finish custom gauge lighting project(all orange switched to blue)
7. Small things for my personal satisfaction(smaller battery moved to trunk, bats roof overlay, rear valance overlay)
After the comfort and looks stage comes suspension stage.
1. Tien Flex with EDFC.
2. Front and rear camber arms
3. Stillen sways
Next is more body stuff.
1. Impul sides and rear
2. Wheels(looking into flat black DPE's)
Eventually I'm going to build my engine.
1. Turbonetics ST setup
or
1. JWT or APS TT setup
with
2. Fully forged bottom end
3. Customize 3 maps for LowHP MidHP and HighHP
When thats all done:
1. DDIN front deck
2. New speakers
I'm posting this thread more or less for my own benefit. I'll be updating this thread with everything I complete. My goal is at the end, to have the complete progress of my car in one thread, showing it from start to finish.

This is really the reason I made this post. It keeps me on track, while motivating me to reach the goal I have: To get the car I have in my head to be a reality.
Thanks for the support guys.

I don't understand the desire to spend so much money modding a mass produced vehicle. When you are said and done, then what? Are you going to show your car? Is it to impress your friends? You will have spent enough money to buy a more expensive car in a totally different bracket. Just remember that you will see pennies on the dollar for every modification you make to your car, so I hope you plan to keep it for a long LONG time.

I assure I think about the same things you do. I've though about all the cars in my bracket(porsche, bmw, audi, lexus, mercedes, ect). None of the models really compare to what I invision my car being. Not to mention the fun of doing all(or a good portion) of the work myself.
The reason I'm doing this is because I love cars. I enjoy working on them and driving them. I enjoy creating additions and shaping the car to be the way I want it. When I say enjoy, I mean that I have fun doing it. I'm motivated, all the key factors are in place. Now I just have to get to work.

I see you are no longer going to give me good advice. Oh well, eventually I still want to make my car completely track but that means I need one thing: OODLES of MONEY! This winter I should either A) save up money due to lack of racing in the northeast or B) get paid per diem while down in Texas which essentially means a 5 figure raise. It's a win-win situation!
EDIT: Here's my list FYI
Final Gear 3.9
Cold Air Intake
Plenum Spacer + MREV2
Underdrive Pulleys
Racing Wheels 17"/18" & uber wide
Stage 2 Break Kit
Light Weight Battery
All of those are pretty simple jobs I should be able to do myself and are streetable, excluding dedicated racing tires.
