im interested in a short throw shifter, but i like the security of knowing that my stock one will not allow me to accidentally shift fifth to first
You won't be able to accidentally shift into first with any of the short shifters.

Rogue Engineering STS is amazing. I highly recommend it to anyone. Not so sure about this Revo piece. Where does it even say 40% reduction?

Check their website...

Basically, the difference (besides aesthetics, er... looks) between the Revo and the Rogue is very simple... The Rogue extends the ball underneath to make the throws shorter, where the Revo extends that part just like Rogue does and shortens the shifter too. There is only one short shifter available on that site now because the other one was literally garbage... it shortens shifts by shortening the shifter only. It works, but it's better to extend the shifter underneath first for a better short shifter.

The reason why I went with the Revo is because I wanted the 40% reduction instead of just 20%, and the assembly looks exactly like stock, as where with the Rogue, you would need to re-use that plastic piece, and maybe buy a new one if you broke it while you were taking it apart. That, and the price difference made a huge difference. And I know of Revo because they made the best short shifter avalable for my old EP3...
