so I went to the dealer and came back with one of these
Ok, I'll be the first (and maybe the only one to say it), but I think you downgraded a lot (flame suit on). My opinion would be different if you traded in a 3 series or even a 535. 540i 6-speed is a sweet and rare car, but I understand wanting to get rid of it once the warranty runs out. Parts and repairs are expensive if you don't have time or don't know how to DIY!
Plan on spending a couple thousand on wheels and tires for the G as I guarantee you that you will get bored of those frumpy non-sport pkg wheels very quickly.

I agree, the non-sport wheels are slightly small looking. Wheels are the first on my list.
LazerRed1, thats one hot car! The G coupe is one of the first vehicles I've seen that looks great with factory mud flaps.
The 540i is a nice car and yes it is rare, but there are plenty out there for me to choose from if I so choose. So far, I don't miss the 3rd-5th gear rush on the 540i, I feel the G is quick enough for me even though I haven't gone WOT as of yet. I am a DIY to a certain extent, but the vehicle needed the following that I could have done myself:
Intake manifold gaskets
Valley pan gaskets (coolant was leaking through and dripping down underneath the vehicle)
Valve cover gaskets
Waterpump and various coolant hoses
Fan clutch
Driveshaft guibo A.K.A. flex disc
Gauge cluster center information display needed fixing with a new Light Control Module coded to my vehicles VIN # ($$$). My mileage screen was going south and it needed it.
Power steering pump and lines
Here's what I couldn't do myself:
New clutch and differential mounts
Mainly because I didn't have the proper tooling to do so.

Well, at least it looked nice....
