Seat foam is dying, dealer says no warranty

I'm wondering if anyone has experience winning a warranty argument over the driver's bottom seat foam deteriorating. My car is an '04 Coupe 6MT, 41K miles. I'm 5'9", 185lbs. The leather of the seat is in good shape, but the left "wing" of the driver's seat bottom has given up the ghost. The dealer's service mgr is saying this isn't a warranty issue and I'm on my own to pay to fix it. Where can I go from here? Should I just let this go and buy new seat form to try to replace it myself? Try Infiniti consumer affairs? Thanks in advance!

If possible, try a different dealer. If thats not possible, definitely call Infiniti consumer affairs directly. This should definitely be a warranty claim, not tolerable in my book...

This topic has come up a lot lately. I, too, had a problem with my driver's seat. My 04 developed this "sag" wrinkle on the left bolster of my seat. When I took my car in for service, I mentioned to my service writer how unhappy I was with the condition of the leather after only 1 year.

He came outside and once he saw the seat agreed that this shouldn't have happened. He said the foam bolster under the leather had either collapsed or deteriorated. He in turn ordered me a new foam cushion and new leather seat bottom. This was replaced for free under warranty.

Check around with other dealerships....if no one will honor it under warranty, then get Infiniti Consumer Affairs involved.

G35rcr (or anyone else), any specifics on the new seat bottom? I'd love to be able to bring up to my dealership that this seatfoam was redesigned (hopefully to be more durable). Thanks!

I believe the replacement cushion is the same old material. I had mine done a few months back. It looked awful before they replaced it under warranty. I'm sure in another 3 years it will happen again. Hopefully, I'll be driving something else.

I went to the dealership yesterday and ask them to change the cushion. I showed the tear in the leather and cushion. They agreed to change it.

Go to the website below and print out the service bulletin from Infiniti. Show it to the dealership and tell them to change it or face lawsuit. The service bulletin should be the 4th one from bottom. You have to register in order to download the service bulletin.

Thanks for the tips! Culi, do you have a 2005 or 2006? Mine is a 2004, and the TSB says it's only for 2005-6 models, so I'm worried they will push back...

The TSB is for the tear. The cushion is seperate but should be covered anyway.

Well, the dealer told me to pound rope. They claimed that they had someone from Infiniti corporate "take a look" today and he concurred with them that it isn't a warranty issue. Does anyone have the Infiniti Consumer Affairs close at hand? In case I lose the battle, any idea what Infiniti charges for seat foam? Thanks everyone for your advice!

how many miles does your G have? i had the same issue, they told me is covered under warranty but since i had 55K miles that the warranty would not cover it...which makes no sense cause the G was still under factory warranty, but i guess they opt to choose whats covered and not covered depending on the mileage...i am over the warranty since i got 65K miles, should i call NOW consumer affairs and complain??
