He wasn't trying to take off. OP stated he put it in Park and heard a 'crack'.

Just go to another dealer (if you can) hopefully under warranty, if not...hit up Jason at Riverside. Good ppl there, I've gotten stuff from them in the past when Chad was there A+++

Yep, same thing happened to me and it was replaced under warranty. I too was putting it into park and it broke. The dealer had a hard time finding a replacement and finally took one off a demo.

but, warranty is only covered depending on the reson of product failure... and that is up to the dealer to figure out... :-/

why some turn away? i dont know.......

Riverside says it should be covered...

IMO, whatever dealer it is that won't cover this is just doing bad business. It's a minor item that doesn't take much time at all to replace, but they don't want to make a customer happy. Take it to another dealership. We're not talking about a curbed rim here.

I know this is a coupe thread, but I'm dealing with the same issue.

My **** is broken just like the one pictured, has been a little "loose" ever since I purchased it back in April and has gotten worse in the past few days. Car is at the dealer now for a servicing and I'm having them look at it. They just told me it would be $800 to fix!! He said he would let me know if it is covered under warranty.

I spoke with Jason at Riverside Infiniti and he says that I'd have to bring it in before they could determine whether or not it would be covered.

I know, I can't believe that they actually think I'm going to pay $800 to fix the cracked plastic piece under my shift ****!

Dealer did the same thing with me. They took the parts off a demo and didn't charge me anything as it was covered under warranty.
