I dont read stats very much??? You apperantly dont know much about cars than do you... or you stat reading isnt up to par!!!!
The G35 coupe is as follows: 0-60 = 5.8 The V6 accorrd is as follows: 0-60 = 6.3 The G35 coupe is 14.2 in the1/4 mile
The V6 accord is 14.5 in the 1/4 mile
Do your homework before you decide to make wise a$$ remarks... so maybe its you that dont know much about stats!!!!!!!!! So yes the performance numbers are almost identical unless you consider .3 a substantial difference in the 1/4 mile...that is about a 1/2 bumper length!!!

 

I have to agree w/NYG35shark just on the stats part. Maybe its the Accord that's fast? Actually I do think its darn fast for the class of car that it is. There is no way I would even comapre the two though. IMO our Gs should SMOKE the crap out of Accords even on paper. I am dissapointed that we don't have more braging rights for our $$$. I still LOVE the G. Hey, I guess that's what mods are for, right?

Since we're talking about Accords I'm going to jump in here. I've raced the new accord coupe. We traded cars and raced again.... Mind you, neither one of us is a race car driver. But it was a pretty easy race for both of us. The coupe pulls far enough to pass safely at about 55mph. We didn't take it up past 65, but the end result was a no-contest. I have to admit though I didn't pull away from the Accord like I thought I should. I think its 3 gear that kills the Accord.

Note: We both have AT's and ran in full auto mode.

Not to be an ****, but 0.3 seconds in the 1/4 is more substantial than you think NYG35. If you did YOUR homework, you would realise that since the trap speed is close to 100mph, 0.3 seconds is MUCH more than a 1/2 bumper length.

1 mile = 5280ft.
100mph = 528000 ft/h
= 8800 ft/min
= 146 ft/sec
0.3sec@100mph = 44 ft

The G35C is 182.2 inches long which is about 15 ft. That means that 0.3 seconds is almost 3 car lengths.

Now lets look at 0-60 shall we?
60mph = 1 mile per minute
= 5280 ft/minute
= 88 ft/sec
0.3sec@60mph = 26.4ft
0.5sec@60mph = 44ft

That means, the 0.5 seconds difference in the 0-60 is still almost 3 car lengths. Even if you take the shorter difference of only 0.3 seconds in the 0-60, that is still almost 2 car lengths.

Keep in mind all these numbers are baselines, because both cars are still accelerating, so that means that car behind will actually be farther behind that what this calculation shows, because it isn't going at a constant speed, which this calculation assumes.

 

Im sorry man but your math is wrong, you dont account for acceleration.... yea thats a big difference in feet if you were going that speed the whole time, but you arnt, you are going that speed for .1 sec

What are you talking about? Even if you are going 60mph, the difference is still about 2 car lengths. The Accord is not out-accelerating the G35. Even if you are going 100mph for 0.1 seconds, that is still 1 car length. What speed are going before 100mph? 99? 98? 97? 96? That's still going to yield distances much greater than 1/2 bumper, which was my original point.

I didn't forget about acceleration, I even point it out. The accord will be farther behind than noted, because it is still accelerating to keep up with the G35, so isn't covering as much distance as the G up front, because the G will be going faster as they are crossing the 1/4 line.

 

Here is the deal IMO.

I think the car you came from before makes all the difference in the world. I came from an IS300 and therefore feel like the G is fast as hell. But then again I realize there are faster cars out there. Coming from an AMG E55, you probably shouldn't feel the G is all that fast.

As for the Accord v6 argument. My good friend has one and we have put them side by side. I have also driven the Accord (I am talking about the new models) myself too. The bottom line, no doubt about it, the G is much faster. The front-wheel drive makes that car feel like it is lagging and regardless it just is not quick enough. It doesn't drive nearly as nicely and it is just not as fast. Its No Contest.

yea the g is faster than the accord, but u guys are using the very good numbers for the g's and the not so good ones for the accord. For a 6 speed accord (coupe), ive seen times as low as 5.9 seconds. for the g, i believe the best ive seen is 5.5-5.7. even though your car will be faster then the accord when you have average drivers, u cant call the accord slow with any real justification.

 

Sorry dude but i failed math..So i guess ill just have to find someone with a new accord a give it a test myself..But i am sorry the G is fast but not that fast..I have had too many near embarrassments messing around with cars that the G should eat alive but it just didnt...I guess coming from a 99 vette im just used to the power...and it aint my drivin cause i am an amatuer track racer..(i figure id throw that in cause someones gonna make a comment about my drivin!!!)..all in all i cant get enough of my G its an all aroud great car...i just think they should of at least offered a turbo engine!!! Like the old 300zx did...OH WELL guess they gotta keep cost down....

I agree that the G35 could should be a faster car. But then, there is always going to be a faster car out there. The new muscle cars are hitting the streets and the competition is only going to get tougher. Besides straight line acceleration, handling is very important to me and I doubt that any Honda gives a decent drivers experience.

It's not just about straight line speed, its also about handling. If you want straight line speed get a Mustang.

I dunno I mean we definitely will beat the Accord and thats a fact on paper without having to do a physical race. Everyone is justified for their opinion. In my opinion I think my g35 is crazy fast. I m 110% content with the performance of this car. I mean I dont race anyone but I know that when I feel like hitting the gas, this car does it for me. Happy Motoring
