Re: Raced a Cadillac XLR

The XLR does not have a LS1 engine. In fact it is a "hot-rodded" version of the Northstar that normally makes 275-300 Hp, depending on the model of Cadillac.

Re: Raced a Cadillac XLR

its a northstar with VVT, rwd 5speed auto. also, the cadillacs with the original northstar have a transmission that sucks up 24%-25% of the power, this trans is supposadly much less.

tons of rumors of a XLR-V, like the cts-v that already came out, its believed to have a 500+hp LS7 motor (the same engine in the future c6 that is replacing the corvette zo6)

The new Cadillac CTS-V uses the Z06 LS7 motor running 400hp and 395 bl/ft tq. The C6 has a brand new LS2 6.0 liter motor pushing 400hp and 400 tq. Where the heck did you get 500hp? The CTS-V is a bad a$$ luxury car. That thing is really sick.

Oh and this is obviously not the same motor in the XLR pushing 320hp? Why do you(in reference to someone else) think that would smoke a G35 with it's lighter weight and more aggressive gearing?

Re: Raced a Cadillac XLR

i raced my friends gs430 "same as the 400 you raced" and i was ahead of him until we hit 90 and he just starts pulling pretty hard, so i just shut off.from 40 to 90 though i was ahead by half a car.I think i would have hung better top end if i would have used the tiptronic shitt. i just left it in d when i raced him.

Re: Raced a Cadillac XLR

no, the cts-v uses the c5 zo6 LS6 engine thats been in covettes for a few years. the c6 right now has the ls2, but thats the base model. next model year it will have a sportier model like the z06, and a higher output engine. the LS7 which is rumored in the area of 500+hp. there is also alot of talk of either the Ls2 or Ls7 making its way to the cts-v, no specifics on that.

the other engine choice for the XLR-v when it comes out (few years away) is a 500hp supercharged northstar v8, but in reference to the xlr-v i was just giving a little FYI. all cadillacs are going to have a V model in the years to come, there awnser to the M series, AMG, etc etc.

im sure it was a good race between the two

Oh I see. I meant the LS6. Got twisted when you said LS7. You should've said C6 Z06 instead of just C6 with 500 hp. Yea the Cadillac V series is going to be hot. I would love to have a CTS-V as the everyday car with a C6 or Z06 as the weekend/race car.

you were doing 90 and you downshifted to 3rd? i think i read somewhere 3rd gear is at 85ish max, must be in the manual but i dont have it right now.

Haven't tried redlining it though. My G's only a week old!

"He was traveling faster than I was at the time and passed me at about 90 mph."

What i meant by this was that HE (the xlr) passed ME while HE was going about 90mph.
