I had a friend that did the same thing. His car seemed to run fine. Although I always put at least 91 in mine.

IF U seldom use WOT, should not be a problem as long as U don't hear detonation...be sure and use a good quality gas, with cleaning additives.

It Is only a $2.50-3.00 differenct at every fill up to use 93 oct?. However; I did use 91 oct for the first 3K mi. & had no issues. Dispite this decided to use 93 oct. after 3K mi. becuase I could not settle for anything less but the best for my G35

Yup follow that link above.

Non rev-up VQ's might get away with lower 87 oct, but no way with revup's.

I ping on good quality 91 and have a revup VQ. My gas door says 'only' premium rather than recommend.

You could probably get away with it if you drive it easy, but I wouldn't. Most NA motors with high compression really need 91 octane fuel. I knew someone with a celica gts that would run 87, it ran like ****.

I have an SE R with a stock VQ35 DE engine and run with 87 all the time. Never had any pinging or knocking. I've switched up to 91 and don't notice any appreciable difference in HP or torque. If anything, the ECU will retard the timing and you will lose a small amount of power but nothing noticeable unless you're planning on tracking or racing. 10 HP off 280 HP is not noticeable. For day to day use, it's fine.

I think the coupes all along have required premium, so I would use it on it.

The 2004 sedan just recommended it, so i put in what I'm in the mood for. Haven't noticed a difference in gas mileage or performance (but I don't push it too hard, either).

I believe the reason my coupe says 'only' is b/c is a revup VQ (298hp)
Non revups VQ's are only 280hp and I'll guess those the ones that say 'recommended'.
Just a logical guess on my part.
