Greetings. I'm giving serious consideration into doing the conversion on my new 06G35c for the radio. That display button that you have to hold in for a long time to flip to the next category with sat radio is almost dangerous for a driver to do.

My question is, after reading here, some have said that changing out the OEM radio with a double DIN may drop the value of the car. Is this a significant factor?

Also, would a non-OEM radio still ?work with the sirius antenna mounted on the car and its tuner, or would that have to be swapped out?

i have done car audio for years, and there is alot to factory in when you change the radio out of one of these cars. First off you need to get a new dash piece and ac/heater controls. you can pick them up for about 280 and then its on to the radio. i know for a fact that the factory tuner in your car for satellite radio will not work with an aftermarket radio, but i do have good news, the factory antenna on the car will work!!! i wouldnt atempt to do this install yourself unless you know exactly how to take the dash apart in our car. if you are located in the northern va area, i would be more than happy to do the install for you. hope i have answered all your questions

 

Depending on where you sell your car, the value may be diminished some, or not. It won't make it worth more, but if someone wants a DD already installed, they may pick yours before someone elses. But if you sell it to some place like Carmax, who only wants OEM cars, a DD kit will diminish the value.

Keep the OEM parts and radio and reinstall them when it comes time to sell the car. Then your value isn't hurt.
