VERY IMPORTANT NOTE to all G35's in NY, NJ, CT ,LI

NOTE: This post is directed to ALL Infiniti owners who want to modify their engines or other areas of the car but are worried about being denied Warranty work.

OK guys here it is. I live in Westchester, NY and like most of the G owners on this forum, have the urge to modify and upgrade my coupe wiht aftermarket parts. I currently get my G serviced at Pepe Infiniti in White Plains. However, when i spoke to the service manager about modifications, he told me that if i touched ANYTHING (and i mean ANYTHING) in the engine that it would void the entire engine warranty and he would no longer SERVICE my car. Then, thanks to a member on this forum i was informed about a dealership in Fairfield CT that would be more accomodating. He couldn't have been more on target.

I spoke to Bill, the service manager at Deavin or Deavon (cant remember how you spell it) Infiniti (203) 255- 7500 and he said his dealership is run quite differently than most other dealerships. He explained to me that for example, if i put an JWT pop charger and Z tube on my car that it would not void the warranty and that he would still service my car. He also informed me that ( AND THIS IS HOW IT SHOULD BE) unless he can prove my upgrade caused the problem, he would be "forced" to service the car. He even told me that if there was a problem and he COULD relate the problem to my upgrade that he would still help me fix it. He also said Infiniti as a company frowns highly on this practice but that he doesnt have to report that he fixes cars with modifications. And last but not least, if the problem was a serious problem and it was caused by an upgrade, i could take off the modification and pretend like it was never there. So if anyone out there wants to upgrade their car but is concerned about being denied warranty work, this is the solution. For me, the drive to CT is about and hour away, but to find a dealership that is so incredibly accomodating in terms of mods is like striking oil and is well worth the drive up there IMHO. I'm sorry this was such a long post, I sincerely hope this was informative to some of you. Happy Modding!!

And on another note, Bill also informed me that the G35 front aero spoiler (lip) was just made available to his dealership for sale to the public. I also asked him about the Infiniti R racing line products that are supposed to be released in about 10 months ( they should have been released 6 months ago) and he said he would make a few phone calls for me to find out more information and would call me back tommorow to let me know what he found out.

Overall Dealership Rating: EXCELLENT

Thanks for the follow up....I read your other post regarding this issue and I was wondering how you made out...

My dealership in Long Branch N.J. is pretty strict as well....
I was talking with one of the managers while my car was being serviced and he told me at their dealership the General Manager will not allow any Modifications to their cars...ie not chroming of rims no aftermarket accessories...no altering from the factory...other than a wood kit or air deflector

They only do hand pinstriping for the customers and provide outside services for them as well....

I do not plan any major mods on my car....but just changing out to a Z tube should not be a problem...It's still Nissan parts right? I was planning on replacing the air filter to a K&N...
technically if I was to use an aftermarket oil filter that would throw me out of warranty as well right.......well just see about that....2old4this

Nothing but dealership scare tactics.

There are Federal laws that protect us from this type of abuse. In short, they CANNOT deny you warrany service unless they can prove the mod caused the problem.

Jesterv,
I'm glad to hear you took my advise and decided to contact Bill.
Devan Infiniti's both service and sales departments are great and so far I do not regret a bit for getting my coupe from them.
Bill was also very accommodating and cooperated when one of the mechanics scratch my car during an oil change. He was willing to take the car to a body shop and pick up the tab for the cost without giving me any hard time.
BTW, I already have the grounding kit on, and I'm on my way to put the JTW pop-charger and Z-tube myself.

Good luck!

Here is a link to the Magnuson and Moss Warranty act that requires dealers to honor their warranty.

so lemme get this straight...if i were to FI my G, blow it to kingdom come, even if they knew how i did it, all i have to do is remove the FI and replace all the stock parts and they'll act as if they didn't know?? thats pretty hard to believe, but pretty awesome if they hold their end of the deal...now that we have a safe haven for our cars, who wants to FI their G? I know of an installer of any FI for our car, i should hopefully be going under the knife if all goes the way i plan....they are based in Bronxville, NY, minutes away from NYC and in Southern Westchester County...they deal with high-end cars (porsche, ferrari, aston martin, mercedes-benz, bmw, nissan skyline and other japanese cars)...if i don't end up going under the knife, does anyone else wanna volunteer? on another note, if u live in the tri-state area and you blow your motor, how much u think it would cost to flat--bed your car to CT??? i believe the town is called Devon...and wat others say is true about warranty work, by law they have to prove that the aftermarket product was the direct cause of failure of the claimed part...i.e. an intake cannot make your brakes fail or your radio short out...i bought my car from Pepe also, and they can be dummies sometimes...
