HELP!!!! Oil Consumption Issue but no reciepts

my 2006 g35 coupe 6mt has about 22k miles on it and I have been changing the oil since i bought it new. I noticed there was some slight oil consumption until i just changed it about a month ago and noticed the oil was really low. I read a lot of the posts here and contacted my dealership but they said i probably will not get anywhere unless i can produce receipts from my oil changes, which i don't have. Does anyone have any suggestions on what i could do?

My options right now look like
1. trade car in (i love it and don't want to do this)
2. Continue to add oil every 1k miles or so.
3. Pay for a oil consuption test at dealership and see where that takes me without any receipts

Has anyone else had this issue or is there another way i can prove i change my oil every 3500-3700 miles like the manual says?

Just pay for their oil change and being the consumption test. If you change the oil yourself, you should of saved Oil receipts and Filter receipts homie. If they STILL wont conduct the test after paying for their oil change(I dont see why not), take ur car to a diff dealership.

I know now I should have kept the receipts and will in the future (hindsight is 20/20). Never thought a 40k car would have an issue like this. Dealership will do the consumption test but without the receipts they don't think i stand a good chance of getting help. Very fustrating!!!!

Do the oil consumption test ! You have to start a paper trail !! Just got my new motor in my 06 . The first thing they did was the oil test . The next thing was they replaced my PCV valve and valve covers . All was done under warranty . It was still burning oil but you have it on paper from the dealer that it didn't fix the problem . It has to bee done in stages . PM me up if I can help you with any questions !!

This should be a warranty issue. If they still make you pay for the tests, and the tests show excessive oil consumption, you should then be reimbursed for whatever the tests cost.

Quality from Infinti. It's sad because they know the Problems exists. You not changing your oil at their dealership or going thru the 3 months or 3k intevals should be the problem.

It's not OUR fault they didn't use the correct pistions rings when then upgraded the 05+ motors to rev a little higher...

Chili's right, pay Infiniti to change the oil/filter and let them follow your
consumption issues. Eventually they'll seal your engine and check it every
month or so to verify that your engine is burning oil.....when it blows up
they'll have to take action.....Infiniti's aware of the problem just to costly
for them to make a recall. Wouldn't it be cool if you could throw a $1K at
them and get a 3.7?

it's up to the discretion of the dealer you head to. also, if you want to make consumer affairs into it then they'll have to get soem proof that your oil changes were done. its all in legalities

that is bull****, so if they were to change the oil for your this problem would have not occurred? Wrong.....This is a Nissan default, they need to take responsibility.

theyll never take responsibility, they could never replace every engine. It would take 10 years to replace all those engines!! its all dollars and cents to them.

I just hd my engine replaced under oil consumption. They run the test, if it burns more than 1 quart per 1000 miles its considered high oil consumption. They replace it right then and there, push for a full long block. Infiniti corporate have approve but I got that. That BS of changing the pcv valve and jst giving a new bottom end is bs.

If you were paying for the engine to be replaced, would you do it solely on the word of the car owner that oil was changed properly? Or, would you want some proof that the oil was changed according to factory guidelines?

Receipts dont mean anything...

A "Maintenance Log" produces more evidence than receipts...

Didn't you purchase 20 oil filters and a drum of oil at once?

As long as you can provide dates and mileage documented thats all you should need.

I got an 03 with 130,000k on her. I have noticed the oil being down only about a liter at change time (5000k) which seems reasonable considering the revs I sometime push it to. If I drive nice oil consumption is almost none.

Higher rpm usually = Higher oil consumption.

Took my car in yesterday for OC test and I was a little under 2 quarts low. Last oil change was around 1200 miles ago so I think I will reach their standard of 1qt low for every 1,000 miles. I just hope they don't try to band-aid the issue with un-necessary repairs. I will keep this post updated.

Try showing them the Nissan TSB that just came out. I hope a TSB specifically for Infiniti will be out soon too.
