Anyone had this problem with fuel tank?
Half the time I go to fill up at a gas station, I can only fill my tank to half full. Try as I might, it won't let me squeeze any more in. Other times I'm able to fill to full tank, no problem. Really weird. Anyone else had this or heard of it? Is there a fix?

Re: Anyone had this problem with fuel tank?
this happened to me alot when i first got my car. dont sqeeze the lever all the way, something about having too much pressure coming out of the nozzle doesnt let the tank fill all the way. as long as u dont pull the trigger thing all the back youll be fine

Re: Anyone had this problem with fuel tank?
we have a saddle tank setup, its been discussed ALOT here. if youre parked on an inclined or tilted, you may have problems. It also may happen after spirited driving. Basically, one side isnt venting to the other.
If you fill alittle more slowly, it helps. But once you've clicked off early, there isnt much you can do to fill it the rest of the way. At least not for awhile I've found.

Re: Anyone had this problem with fuel tank?
It could be something as simple as the sending unit. If your capacities are correct on fill up, but the gauge indicates otherwise, that could be the problem. That would be a repair under warranty, and you would be covered. It might be worth looking into.

Re: Anyone had this problem with fuel tank?
Hey, all. I took my ride in 2 weeks ago because my fuel gauge would never read "full" whenever I pumped gas up until the auto shut-off occurred at the pump. The description on my invoice read: 'FUEL SEND. UNITS NEED REPLC., INSTALL DR SIDE PASS SIDE/INSTALL FUEL PUMP PAS. SIDE'. So, under warranty, the dealership listed the following parts (for those who are interested...and can make sense of the listing):
Qty Parts
(1) Sender Unit - Fuel Gau - 25060 - AL511
(2) Ring-O Fuel Gag - 17342 - 01A00
(1) Pump Compl - Fuel - 17040 -CD000
It seems that Mooser is right on the money....as was another poster.

Re: Anyone had this problem with fuel tank?
I agree with everybody that the fuel gauge is far from accurate as far as reading full.
However, if your car is not filling up all the way should no way be related to the tank sensor/gauge. I think the problem here is in the neck design of the fuel tank.
some gas stations, (especially the ones on the main highways) seem to pump at a faster rate....therefore the fuel is being pushed into the tank...the splash back caused by this sometimes trips off the fuel nozzle as if it reached the full mark in the tank....
In actualitiy the splashing may have left you less than full and therefore everyone assumes its the gauge/sending unit....
whenever my car stops taking fuel..I can always add at least a half to a gallon more fuel...since I fill at the same station all the time...I have gotten a feel for the real full of our tank.....
Many will disagree I'm sure....but the gauge or sending unit is not what dictates how much fuel your car will hold...just the amount of fuel remaining in the tank....2old4this
