Re: touchy brakes?!

Yes, our cars are known to have very touchy brakes. I just got used to it and rarely, although still do sometimes, notice it's touchy-ness now.

Re: touchy brakes?!

That "touchiness" feel saved my A$$ a couple of times....
be thankful they stop that hard and that fast...believe me, you won't regret having them......
I drove a chrysler 300M the other day, and when I first applied the brakes I thought the car wasn't going to stop! That is when I really got a feel of how good I got it with my Coupe...
I have an AUTO, so I'm not to sure about the Brembos....I think they are way better than the stock brakes we have...

If you feel for any reason the brakes do not seem to be working properly....take it back to the dealer and have them check it out for ya....2old4this

Once you're used to the sensitive brakes, you'll learn to love them. I haven't driven an AT Gcoupe, but if they're anything as sensitives as the Brembo's...

Re: touchy brakes?!

I think I read somewhere that the 6MT Brembos have the same feel as the 5AT brakes. The difference is that the Brembos are more fade resistent.

Re: touchy brakes?!

yeah.. our cars definitely have sensitive brakes.. i came from hondas/acuras and so i was used to braking a little bit earlier.. when i fist test drove the coupe, i was so afraid to hit the brakes cause everytime i did, the salesperson kept jolting forward.. you get used to it after a while and you'll grow to love how well those brakes stop you..

haha, I know exactly what you mean. When I forst got my car I was starting to get whiplash everytime I hit the brake. Felt stupid thinking people thought I didn't know how to drive or something. You'll get used to it and have a lighter touch to modulate them better.

Re: touchy brakes?!

definitly! espacially when the car is new. have about 4000 miles now and they definitly are not as touchy now. just need some break in time and a couple of high speed slow downs-stops to eally bed them in.

GR8TG35: "...and when I first applied the brakes I thought the car wasn't going to stop!"

I know the feeling. I was in a rental Explorer and felt the same sensation. Compared to the G, I felt like I had to slam the brakes every time to come to a stop.

Bah. Explorers are easy to stop. Try an Expedition sometime. To get a good understanding of inertia, it takes trying to stop a full-size SUV a couple of times.

Driving the Expedition for a week and then jumping back into the G also makes for a couple of interesting first stops.

Re: touchy brakes?!

Technology causing this is called "Brake Assist" you can read about it on the Infiniti website. IMO not fully developed as yet. Idea is that when the car senses you making an emergency stop (how? good Q. by how hard, far, and fast you put your foot down), it will go to full power braking. However, driving slowly, system doesn't work as well as it could. If you need to feel better, Mercedes gets slammed senseless for how touchy their current crop of brakes are. The servo points and software algorythms need some fine tuning. Your next G will be better in this regard. On the plus side, the brakes are well weighted once you're up to speed, have good modulation (sensitivity/feel)and put in some impressively short stopping distances.
