Thinking about making the switch

I currently own a 07 se 3.5L dodge charger and I am seriously considering trading this baby in for a used 04 , 05 or 06 model g35 coupe. My charger is brand new with only about 4,000 miles on it. Being that you guys all own g35s i would like to know some of the cars perks and flaws. for instance i am 6'3 1/2 and wonder would i be comfortable in this car. * A potential g35 owner

Your height might be an issue. Try testing driving one and see how confortable you are.

Problems:
1) Both window motor tend to fail
2) rattles all over the place
3) poor MPG. 18mpg city/hwy avg.
4) interior not so nice, leather feels like vinyl
5) the manual transmission, not the smoothest out there
6) Clutch does chatter sometimes, and engagement point is a little high
7) Paint is crap. Really, really soft. My nephew wrote (wash me) on my hood when it was a lil dusty. Guess what, you can still read it after the wash
8) Gas refilling can sometimes be a bltch. It will act like it FULL when its not
9) Tires on our car will not last 12k on avg, normal driving
10) Battery tend to die out for no apparent reason..

What year is your G and how many treads did you have left at 20k? Were they bald out? Because rear wheel drive plus bald tires = crash.

I have an '04 and not ever an issue
2) rattles all over the place
No idea what this rattling is you're talking about.
3) poor MPG. 18mpg city/hwy avg.
18.5 city 22 hwy, you bought a sports car. want milage, buy a prius.
4) interior not so nice, leather feels like vinyl
leather feels very nice if you take care of it and use quality conditioner on it.
5) the manual transmission, not the smoothest out there
Auto..FTW!
6) Clutch does chatter sometimes, and engagement point is a little high
see above
7) Paint is crap. Really, really soft. My nephew wrote (wash me) on my hood when it was a lil dusty. Guess what, you can still read it after the wash
ANY paint will scratch or micro mar if someone writes into the dirt on a car. Nissan paint is soft but easy to correct.
8) Gas refilling can sometimes be a bltch. It will act like it FULL when its not
never had this issue but isn't usually the cars fault. It's the seal thats created on the nozzle when pumping. If it's air tight it creates back pressure making the pump thing you're full. Leave a little room for air and it will be fine. Again, I have NEVER had this happen with my G.
9) Tires on our car will not last 12k on avg, normal driving
If they're the stock tires they last about 22-25,000 on the average. Mine went at 23k but who keeps stock tires??
10) Battery tend to die out for no apparent reason..
I haven't even heard of this being an issue before.

So there are my 2 cents. Car is sexy as hell, and super fun to mod. Plus modding makes it look classy and sporty, rarely ricy.

Well I only agree with some of the things you've mentioned. The only time I hear rattles is when the passenger seatbelt is hung wrong and hits against the door when I drive (Drives me crazy.) True it doesn't get the best gas milage, but did you seriously buy a G for this reason? As for the transmission, I love the feedback I feel from the shifter/clutch, and I've never really heard or had my battery die out for no reason. There may be little annoyances, but over all the positives outweigh them all, I love my G =D

Oh yeah. the Torque on the car is a little in the lacking side... Maybe its just the weight of the car?

20k on a set of tires for the G.... Mine lasted all of 11k and they were as bald as Mr. Clean by 15k. The G35C is by far the worst car on tire wear that I've owned over the past 25 years.
