BMW paint is a very hard paint, if someone thinks theirs is soft, they don't know paint. However, BMW paint jobs are horrific...orange peel city. Proof?

I've had mine for two months and I feel your pain with the seat belt thing, very annoying. Gaz guzzler, don't know still drive my 2K SE Max most of the time, since it has a lot of miles. However, the few times I've filled up gas on the G, it has averaged between 22 and 25 miles. My car has 6K on them and the paint is extremely soft on the front bumper so, I'll be getting a clear bra as soon as I clay the car. The only setback is the cost, $1,100. Performance wise, as much as I never gun it, only Corvettes and M3 get close and try to race, not my thing. I'll be installing a spacer and a no-revup collector so, performance shoulbe even better soon. Excellent ride. Great bang for the buck.

Dude, the rear trunk of the G also has horrible orange peel.. take a pic of the front or the side of the BMW... The BMW has way better paint. Also, buffing would rid those orange peels...

how come you never gun your G? I personally think its part of the thrill of owning a performance coupe. Not neccessarily to race it on the street but to push the car and gun it from time to time. It's a rush for me thats for sure.

I detail cars and buffing will absolutely NOT get rid of that orange peel or any orange peel. The only thing that can get rid of orange peeling is massive wet sanding. Yes, even the G has some orange peel put nowhere near what BMW or even Mercedes have.

Um....ok and you base that on what? Old BMW's had nice paint jobs. Newer BMW's...not so much. I'm not hating on BMW's, I like them but again.. I detail cars and I think over all the G35 has far less orange peel than BMW.

Orange peel is when the surface of the paint looks like..well, an orange peel. This pic shows it perfectly...




All...well most cars have it to some extent but BMW tends to have it pretty bad on some of their cars. Again, Infiniti is by no means perfect, I just find the consistency to be a lot better.

To be honest, I would prefer an orange peel type paint job over Infiniti soft paint. It pains me to see so many rock chips on my bumper due to the soft paint job.

Honestly though, ANY cars front bumper is going to get covered in rock chips over time. Easy solution...clear bra. Trust me, you'd rather have a few chips on the bumper that are fairly easily fixed over a whole car that is orange peeled for which there is nothing you can do about it. So yea, either get a clear bra or it's not that expensive to get a front bumper repainted. If you do get it repainted, be sure to use a band shop that uses plasticizer paint. It's more durable and resistant to the sanding. It buffs and waxes just a good a regular clear and shines better then factory without the orange peel look.

I would imagine a repaint to cost $400 or so. Do you think most autobody shops uses platicizer paint? I guess I should ask before the work is done.

Im not too sure I would agree with you on the "any car" getting covered in rock chip. I use to drive a 1994 toyota camry ( took it 140k mile) and my bumper, not one rock chip on it

Not all body shops use platicizer paint so you'd def want to ask. As for your 1994 camry with not one chip after 140k miles, I would say that was a miracle and to be totally honest, maybe a slight exaggeration.
