MPGs - It's US and not the G
its not granny shifting, u can shift as fast as u want. I have got mine to 450 to the tank once with mostly highway driving. Its all depends how much u physically press the gas pedal, u can shifting at 2.5-4k and still get a very good gas mileage, but u have to accelerate very slowly.

I am a gas milleage hound, and monitor mine insanely closely all the time and the G never gets better than 25 MPG on the highway at any speed over 60 MPH in top gear with the cruise on. The best fuel economy I've ever gotten out of a full tank was 24.9 MPG when I really babied it with a lot of steady backroads driving at speeds of around 45-50 MPH with the cruise on in top gear. But generally, with stock tires on the highway the car pulls a steady 23 or maybe 24 MPG at 65 MPH in the summer with the cruise on and using premium fuel. Mine has gone down about 1 MPG now with the slightly wider and heavier tires.
I've gotten 27.8 mpg on a 350mi trip - avg. speed was in the mid sixties.
This shows in my Nav screen, and when i calculated at fill-up, it confirmed the value was accurate. I should have taken a pic of the screen, i might still have it in my fuel economy history.
How was it done? Instead of using cruise, i always use the gas pedal on down hill, and eased up on uphill areas. I've found it's more efficient then cruise. The MPG screen of the nav was pretty much constantly showing 30mpg+!
In my daily driving to work and back, my avg speed is 45, and i typically average 23-25mpg... if i have a bad week at work and kill it every chance i get (lots of 5-6K RPM shifts), i end up no lesser than 20.4mpg.
slim

I just got my 04 6mt with 48k miles. I filled the tank with alittle over 16 gallons. First full tank got me 387 miles with a small amount to spare. I probably could've got at least 400 miles on that tank. My driving habits are very good though. I shift at 2500 rpms most of the time. Never go over 3k rpms and on the freeway I set the cruise control on 70. I drive about 90% freeway so that could be the reason I get really good gas mileage and the grandpa style driving.

City driving, our G can barely do 16-19mpg and thats with conservative driving.
With my S2k, I can get 20+ city driving like I stole it.
on the topic of cruise control, i've noticed, and have my friends, that we get worse mileage on cruise than on the pedal, regardless of car, (from a tercel, to a 4.9l caddy, to my old vic, and even my old accord).
my commute is a short burst on the highway, and a bit of stop and go, takes about 10-15 minutes, and it takes almost as much gas as a trip to my parents who live an hour away... add in my weekend trips and it's about a tank a week. i don't even bother with the mileage calculations any more, 'cause come friday or saturday, it's 60-70$, no matter what. (though it was nice this weekend, filled up on 94 at my parent's for the price of 89 around here).
(for the record, last time i bothered, i was getting between 11 and 12 l/100kms)

The absolute worst mileage I have had for a tank is 21 mpg, and that was with all city and short haul driving. With a mix of city and freeway, it's usually about 23-24. The best has been 28 mpg, going most of the day with cruise control on 77-78 mph (speed limit here is 75).
Do you have a Nav screen mpg history to prove it? I really can't see how you can get better MPG then the G37.. Members there are saying their avg are 19mpg... And the G37 has the VVEL was is suppose to give them better mgp.
