Im fairly happy with the power output of the 3.5. Its not a V8, but how many V6 engines do you know of that puts out almost 300hp in normally aspirated form?

Well sure it puts as much HP as some V8's but so what?
Would you not reather have a v8?
I know I would without a doubt.

People generally settle for v6 instead of a v8 because v6 cost a little less to drive and to maintain. Manufacturer cost to build a v6 is less.
SO yea maybe this v6 won a few awards for the power but if you really consider that this v6 takes as much gas or more as v8's do plus no refinement and purr of the v8, crappy build quality of the g35's, horrible ECU transmission management combined with crappy throttle by wire.
Somehow after all the negatives at the end you won't give a crap that this v6 won a few awards. Someone please enlighten me on what I'm missing here?

CAUTION !! LONG POST !! 

Correct me if I am wrong

Here is what I call Enlightenment… I get 18 mpg on my car if I drive it somewhat rough, and upwards of 22 – 24 on highway/ city driving. I came from a Honda that got 33MPG so I feel the pain. However you have a bit of a flaw from my point of view.

This car is a luxury sports car. Along the lines of a BMW 335 (which is what all automotive journals compare it to) I considered that car too when I bought my G35.

So to dispel (not sure if I spelled this right) this theory of poor MPG. I decided to talk to my brother a HUGE BMW fanboy (no insults there it, BMW a A GREAT car) he did some research and found that the 328i gets about 19 mpg (from edmunds forums) we will use this as a baseline for the 335 to allow some room for error.

My G35 at invoice 32770 (what I paid)
BMW 335 at invoice 41975 (w/ premium, auto, Sirius, heated seats, comfort access, metallic paint, unless you want a white car)
Car options have to match to be fair.

100,000 cost of G35

32770 – car
19444 – gas (18 mpg @ 3.50/ gallon)
2850 - maint (oil at 3750 $50/ major 30K at 500)
4444 - Tires (12K for rear/ 24K for front avg 18K at 800/set)
3000 - Repair cost
====
62508 or .625/ mile

100,000 cost of 335

41975 – car
18421 – gas (19 mpg @ 3.50)
0 - maint (1st 50K)
2,500 - maint (50 k – 100k at 750/ 15K ) which is being VERY optimistic
5416 - Tires (18K again @ 975/ set) – run flats – true cost is well over 1300
5000 - Repair cost (anyone think this is wrong I have a BMW for sale that cost WAY MORE to repair for 90K miles)
====
73,973 or .740/ mile

A savings of 11,465 even if you get 5,000 more for trade (which is unlikely to be honest, my brother can vouch for that bmw does have the best resale on a base car, but options do not pay back well) you are still saving 6,465.

Again, this is a fair comparison, not comparing to a V8, since I have never seen a car with this luxury and performance in this price range with a V8.

Correct me if I am wrong

No, If I had a V8 in the price range of the G, I would end up with a lower quality, low resale pushrod domestic. (Mustang or GTO...(junk))
Go to a V8 with the overall refinement of a G and you're in M45 or Lexus territory, and a price that reflects it.

Dude, do you sell BMW's or something?
I mean wtf....
I still don't understand A: Why you even own a G if you are so convinced of their inferiority, and B: Why you droan on and on and on about how horrible they are (despite proof otherwise) to a society of people who congregate here because they love their car....?

You'd have better luck going into the AG section and talking everyone out of there nudie videos...

Ya i just realized he owns a G too... I honestly shopped around, and could not find anything close to this car... I really wanted a Z when I got my Accord, but could not afford it (and probably a good thing since i was soo immature)

But this car is THE BEST CAR I HAVE EVER DRIVEN!

My moms s500 and dads a8 are nice and refined, but I love my G's tight steering and road response.

I mean if someone bought the car then they test drove it, so stop complaining and drive it.

Well I myself for the last 2 month got around 15mpg average city and highway driving and if you read some of the MPG forums on this site you will quickly realize that many Gs suffer from bad fuel economy.

Well I have no clue how you are driving your car, I am sure if you drove it with some care you would get better gas mileage, or maybe when it was wrecked it wasnt put back together correctly. Plus your minor mods might effect it somewhat.

My brother drives his 528i with TLC and get 22, and drives it like he stole it and gets 13. It all depends on what you put into it.

BMW's / Lexus's/ Mercedes's/ hell even Honda's and Nissan's will only give good gas mileage if you take care of them.

My Accord gave me 35 sometimes, and gives my brother no more than 25, should he go cry about it?????? Since he should be 30 +++ ??

It all goes with what you put into it...

Not trying to be a a-hole you are on an enthusiats site, and we love our cars, hell i spent 20 mins justifying my point on the gas mileage and cost to own this car is worth it.

I believe everyone here agrees with me that it really depends on how you address the topic. If you werent so negative about it, we would have shown you love. No one here wants to be insulted we love our cars as much as you hate yours. I have been on this site for about a month and half, and all i get is love from people on this site. I may not agree with everyone on here but i never insult their cars.

Good luck with your next car. A prius gives great gas mileage, try cleanmpg.com for your next forum
