Our G Coupes...are they the real last Skylines??

Ok, so with all the hype about the GT-R...I noticed most car mags indicating that the last Skyline was in 1999 called the R34. If our G Coupes are known as Skylines in Japan..aren't ours really the last Skyline? Let me know your thoughts or facts on what you've found...etc. Just curious to know the contradiction.

There is no last skyline yet... The G37 just came out, and later there will be new iterations (i.e. G39, etc).

no..I don't mean the last Skyline ever to be made. I mean the articles are saying the last production Skyline was the R34 in 1999. Isn't ours the last/most recent production Skyline to be made?..up until the new GT-R?

The last skyline was the R34.... The VQ is an embarrassment to the skyline family.

The G should be considered a G and not a Skyline. G39? I doubt it. How about improving the 3.7 motor instead of going bigger. Bigger doesn't always mean better. a 4.0 motor does not belong in a coupe. We already get crappy mileage.

I was just stationed in Okinawa Japan, i hadda '96 R33 Skyline GTS25-T(so, i do know what i'm talkin' about). The R34("R" for the RB series motor) was the last GT-R(AWD Turbo). The G35 is the Skyline V35("V" for the VQ series), it came in a few trims, the 350GT being the top end(coupe & sedan). The new G37 is still badged as a Nissan Skyline in Japan. The new GT-R is the 1st GT-R made independent from the Skyline platform. As for more displacment, NISMO built a BADA$$ NA 3.8litre that will most likely end up in the new Z. Good news for Infiniti fans though, there's a confirmed G37 hard top convertable on the way PLUS... an Infiniti equivalent to the GT-R in the works rumored to be around 500hp!!! enjoy the scoop guys...

Ps. For all you VQ haters, the RB was & is a great tunner engine w/a lot of potential BUT in stock form(w/the exception of V-Spec, V-Spec II, or Z-Tune ect...) the RB26 only came with 280ps and is a lot bigger/heavier & way "low-tech" in comparison to the VQ, wich just made the 10Best Engine list for an outstanding 14yrs in a row!!! Oh, and an NA RB25 made 250ps... they've got NA VQ's up to almost 400whp out there. Do a little research, you'll like what you find.

The Skyline has been made in 2- and 4-door since the '50s, it's what we drive.

The Skyline GT-R is the twin turbo AWD awesomeness that was released in '89 as the R32 and ended production in 2003 as the R34 (and now returning this year as the R35).

Most noobs (including a lot of magazine writers) refer to the GT-R simply as the Skyline. Don't be like them, know the difference.

all i kno is that...
G35= Skyline both coupe n sedan...
G37= Skyline

BUT BOTH NOT GT-R!!!!

last GT-R was the R34 in 1999-2003......

then GT-R stopped....the Skyline series continued...V35 (G35) then V36 (2007 G35 sedan the new one)

Then the car that everyone is waiting for...the New GT-R (R35)
=]

m i right guys?

Blame it to poor misinformed people who keep thinking skyline as high-performance car ..... it's not nissan mistake that they get their knowledge from 2fast2furious..... it's their stupidity that they can't distinguish between GT and GT-R .....basically, they need to read the history before making their moronic assumption, don't you agree?
