Eibach Or Tein??
Re: Eibach Or Tein??
Old thread, but im sure there are newer owners looking into
lowering springs so I'll put in my 2 cents from actual experience.
I bought a set of S-Techs AND Eibachs and been doing
trial and error the last couple of days on my G35C 6MT
swapping out springs front and back, inter-mix them, etc, etc.
yep, my muscles are pretty damn sore...
S-Techs purchased from www.everythingg35.com
Eibach Prokit from www.tirerack.com
S-Tech set: Soft plush ride, overall suspension response
became slower than stock on the rear. Drop looked
perfect front and rear. I think this is a great setup for
people looking to dressup their coupes. The rear spring
rate (274lbs/in) is a bit too soft which contributes
to the slower response. The car felt a little disconnected when
going over dips on one side of the car. It's not bad though.
Eibach set: Firmer ride than stock with quicker suspension
response. Drop was much greater front and rear than the
STechs. This is a setup for people looking at dressingup and
performance improvement over stock... I liked how the rear
felt, but the initial roll at turn-in seemed to be greater than
stock...so this setup was still not what I was looking for.
At the end of the day, I ended up with the below inter-mixed
setup:
S-tech front (~358lbs/in) and Eibach rear (274 to 463lbs/in).
The drop is perfect and the ride is firm but not harsh.
With the higher Eibach spring rate (rate above) on the
rear vs the S-Techs rears (274 linear) the car turns with
a lot more neutral feel and authority than stock. The
initial roll felt with the Eibach fronts during turn-in was
greatly reduced by the front S-Techs.
Im going to see how my tires wear and will decide to do
a toe alignment or not. Camber imo is fine for the front,
but the rear looks to be about -2+ . I'll look into rods
later, but I am more concerned with toe right now.
Down the road i'll be looking into swapping out the shocks
when the stockers wear out. I don't think I need swaybars
with this setting for driving around the streets.

Re: Eibach Or Tein??
Hey Ken,
Quick question, with the S-techs installed is handling actually better than stock? Your impression leaves me to believe that being too soft in the rear worsen the handling.
Also did the front end actually sit noticably lower compared to the rear? I'm really looking to get this lowered front end look!
Personally I'm going after looks, but since I'm installing new springs I would like to have slightly increased handling with as close as possible stock ride (not bang on but a overall comfortable ride).
In that past I've installed H&R sport springs on a Prelude & Civic and they did me well. Tein would be something new for me. If only I could personally see a vehicle with the S-tech installed as pics can be deceiving sometimes.
Thanks in advance,

Re: Eibach Or Tein??
To be honest, and not a slander or anything since this is
from my actual experiment, the STechs do not improve
handling over stock. but the ride height imho look great.
It was evened out with the front slightly lower than the rear.
The Eibachs on the other hand was at least 1/4" lower
front and back than the STechs. Their advertised lowering
is "Average 1.1F, 1R" so you'll notice that the it will drop
more. The front is noticably lower than the rear.
Right now my car sits almost flat.
Ive used Tein's HA's with pillow mounts on a 98 lude, 02
wrx, and eibach, h-sports, etc. on my other cars. Both
Tein and Eibach have been my favorites.

Re: Eibach Or Tein??
Hey man. let me help you with your decision. hands down, the eibachs are awesome springs. I have them on my coupe and they look so sexy. I get compliments all the time. It is very noticeable unlike the teins and the lower drop will provide you better handling. The only problems i have had is my camber. i am getting camber arms soon to adjust my camber. when u drop ur ride over an 1", you will have camber problems. but i still feel it was worth it. it looks so much more aggressive and performance has improved as well.

Re: Eibach Or Tein??
I got a 4wheel alignment today as the response from the rear was not up to par as I was driving spiritedly through some
twisty roads in the woods. It felt lagging or just a muffled
blurred feel.
My before and after measurements on the rear. The fronts
weren't bad at all.
Before (rear) toe:
L = 0.96 degrees
R = 0.64 degrees
Total: 1.59 degrees!!! (range 0.44degrees)
After (rear) toe:
L = 0.14 degrees
R = 0.15 degrees
Total: 0.29 degrees (range 0.44 degrees)
Car handles very well now as it should. Get your lowered

Re: Eibach Or Tein??
i'm in the same debate on what shocks or even coilovers but... i'm not going to be going to any track i just want a good look and good perfermance but most importantly NO SCRAPING.. i had a mustang a few years ago with springs on it and it scraped everything.
Re: Eibach Or Tein??
Im in chi-town and haven't scraped anything yet. but i've
been driving modded cars for years and know which roads
to take, not to take around my area. The eibachs are
definitely lower than the s-techs. What was ironic was
that the s-techs came with instructions to cut the
bumpstops on the front...but eibach said to keep it stock
length on its instructions even though it was lower than the
s-techs...hummmmm... I cut 1inch off the front.
I don't have problems going in/out of my driveway with
a decent sized curb so I don't think I'll run into problems.
The only thing that I might scrape is the carwash rails
if I ever get stuck driving in snow/salt and have to take
her into the autowash. I don't plan on driving this car in
the winter though.
I use to live in LA.... in LA, I think ill scrape a lot of those
short and steep driveways.
