A twist on the 04 vs 06 g35 coupe question

So...ive been trying to find the perfect G for me for the last 4 months...no luck..

I went from wanting the 04 Carribean Blue/ Black interior to settling to look for a decent priced 06 any 6MT color.

The main reason i left the 04 color search i wanted was from all the people scaring me that the 03/04 had big engine problems. and the interior was nicer on the 05/06.

whats your guys opinion...is the 03/04 really that big of a problem to worry about? I dont plan on doing any engine mods to it. probably not even exhaust/intake.

Ive also heard the 03/04's burn tires up quicker than 05/06...dont understand how/why but thats the rumor some friends have told me....they live a few states from me now but have had both 04 and 06.

05/06 Engine/ & interior VS 04 Color of Choice

Hmm tires eat up? Never head that one. All coupes will burn up tires pretty quickly if driven hard especially with the 18" wheels or the 19" wheels.

I like the Brembo's on the 03-04 of course.

05-06 do have a nicer interior.

Just depends on what you find that matches you. The only PRO I can think of for an 03-04 are the Brembos....that's it.

the 05/06 just seems like a more desirable year...i can hardly find a handful within 200 miles that arent either too bloated in price, high mileage, or DAMN automatics...

03-04 youll only get the brembos

05+ youll get the revup, nicer interior, and if 6MT youll get the 19's as well

Not sure what kind of engine problems you heard the '03-'04s have, but I have not had any problems with my car at all. About '03-'04s going through tires faster than '05-06s is not true. It all depends on your driving habits not becuase becuase of the car.

You have it backwards dude. The 05-06 6mts have had BIG engine trouble...burns oil faster than gasoline. The problem really only extends to the 6mt model because it has a different engine (rev-up engine) which had a design flaw. There is a TSB out for it.

The 03-04s are reliable and the only complaint was an ugly a$$ interior.

If you're worried about engine problems, don't get the 05+ 6MTs. But the good thing is, with the TSB, dealerships are much more willing to replace the engine now.

I would go for the 06. My 03 has been overall a great car, but the interior is clearly not on the same level as my 06. My 03 also had engine oil consumption.

You can always get an aftermarket brake kit for the 06. Interior is much harder to swap.

before i got mine i heard it was the 05s and down that had the oil consumption problem but i guess not? so far i havent had any problems with my 06 6mt...oil consumption seems normal...i love the interior and rev-up engine and at least with the 06 vs the 04 theres a higher chance it still has warranty!
