coins falling behind ash tray
ok, my ash tray was being over filled with coins and when i opened my ash tray, the coins end up falling behind the tray hing itself, thus causing me not able to close the ash tray now
is there a way i can take out the ash tray door, or do i have to pull the whole console? if i have to pull the center console, how do i do that?

dude, i had the exact same problem!
I don't think it is possible to remove it from the front without getting into removing the console/shifter, but i could be wrong.
I just eventually worked it open from the front....it took a while.
I got brave and used some pressure to pull it open (from the front)....dislodging the coin.
Then i used some long tweezers to get the coin out from under the ashtray. BE CAREFUL not to scratch the ashtray finish if you try this.
Now i am very careful not to overfill it with coins.

To get behind the ashtray, its pretty easy to remove the center console.
See the following links in the DIY guides.
For 5AT removal:

For 6MT removal:

Scroll down the DIY guides and you'll find how to remove center console. I have the 5AT and its super easy.

Re: coins falling behind ash tray
do you have 5At or 6MT?
When I switched out my dash/ACC/deck (that's my blown up dash you're looking at BTW), removing the 5AT center console is super simple. You can remove it in 2 minutes!
In terms of the 6MT shifter and console removal, I don't know how long it would take.

2 minutes then.......
Look at my DIY guide (docron1):
1. Remove shifter ****
2. Put stick in neutral or drive.
3. Open center armrest
4. Pull up on rear of center console. Clips will easily disengage.
5. Lift center console over stick. You don't need to dissconenct any wires. You should be able to get behind ashtray at this time.
6. Collect any coins that fell back there and say hello to the little troll that lives back there.
7. Put the console back and snap clips. ( it's a good idea when replacing center console to have the ashtray open so that the rubber doesn't get caught, if it does, your ashtray won't open. try it both ways, open and closed, you'll see what I mean)
8. Put shifter **** back on.
9. Close armrest.
10. With the coins you collected go buy an ice cream cone.

Re: coins falling behind ash tray
couldn't you just pull out the black ashtray bin? you could do this w/o taking off the titanium door. it's like cleaning your ashtray. just not sure if this would help you as it never happened to me. i only put quarters, nothing else, and use the coin slot.
