Question 04 Twilight Blue Coupe R-1 Hype Custom Wheel Opinions

PLEASE MOVE TO WHEEL SECTION... I APOLOGIZE FOR THE MISPLACEMENT

I have recently purchased an 04 6MT Coupe in Twilight Blue. I really do not care much for the wheels that are on it right now. I have been considering purchasing a set of R-1 Hype 20" in the gunmetal finish (Car has good 20" tires on it that are near new) and powdercoating them to match my paint as shown below.

How the black version (which R-1 offers) of what I am trying to accomplish looks.

Something like how mine would be after powdercoat... of course it'd look better in person IMO.

Let me know what you think.

Thanks for the quick replies! You guys have some pretty awesome cars.

I seem to have come across some information saying that the R1 wheels are almost all knock-offs. I have been a long time domestic guy, see sig, and don't really know all that much about brand names for import vehicles. Should I be worried about R-1 wheels?

Here is a picture of the Racing Hart RS 721 which the R-1s appear to copy... which unfortunately, for me at least, isn't offered in 20"

Well I am starting to have second thoughts going with 20s... I took two of the wheels off of the car last night and good god they weigh a ton. I know they are more of a bling wheel (DBL-G 55 series) but I still do not see many, if any, 20s that weigh under 30 pounds other than the sevas s-55 and a couple of the axis wheels.

Are there good looking 20s out there that do not weigh a bunch or I am trying to paddle up the creek?

Do you really have your heart set on 20"s? Why not go for 19"s?

Well I would rather not have to pay the additional money for tires since the ones I already have only have 600 miles on them.... plus it is going to be expensive enough having to ship the wheels on the car to whoever I sell them to, even more-so with tires.

I'm not trying to be cheap, just logical.

After looking at the S55s I think they would also look really good.

knockoff or not, R-1 Hypes look really good on our cars. you'd have to have the RS 721s custom made to go 20" or fork over even more money for Maya DLS to get the same look.

Here's what your TB would look like with 19" RS 721's.
