Why did you buy a G35?
I am an undergraduate Anthropology student conducting a research study for my Political Anthropology term project. I would be interested in asking some questions of all G35 coupe and sedan owners. The focus of this project is the Infiniti G35, its history, commodification, labor involved, its consumption, profits, etc.
In this forum, I am focusing on consumption and am specifically looking for the reasons why you, as a car buyer, chose the Infiniti G35. Non owners could also participate, with the reason(s) they are interested with the G35, etc. I would also be interested in asking further questions (possibly even starting email conversations to go further in-depth), ones that would allow this data to be more clearly organized. I have been working on an ongoing research project on the G35 as well as Nissan/Infiniti for about a year.
There are no risks in your participation. Personal information will be kept private. I am merely offering an opportunity for you, as proud G35 owners, to share you reasons and experiences with the community, thereby creating an atmosphere of mutual enlightenment and understanding. The results of this research project will be posted here and/or emailed to interested parties, upon its completion at the conclusion of the term in May.
To appease the Moderators responses and any questions for me should be sent by PM or email to: fraglpunk@houston.rr.com or if neither they nor you mind could be posted here for others to see.

I don't see any harm in answering these Q's
1. Age: 28
2. Sex: M
3. Income bracket/level: over $50k
4. Reason behind selecting the G35:
True story. I was a huge Gran Turismo fan on the Playstation during my college days. Skyline GT-R became my favorite car from playing that game. When it came time to get a new car, I realized that the G35 (Skyline in Japan) fit into my budget, so it became a no brainer. When I say I'm driving my dream car right now, it's literally true. At least until the real GT-R comes out in the US.
5. Something you would care to share about your G35 experience: I love my G coupe.

5. Something you would care to share about your G35 experience: only down sides are, small trunk & back seat, heavy steering feel, heavy weight and feel, crappy stereo, difficult to get into/out of in tight parking spaces due to big *** door, interior rattles. Other then that it's a great car and I would buy it again without hesitation.

dhcrocks,
what do you mean crappy stetreo. does your car have premium? i drove a loner even without a premium and the sound system was decent. try putting in a cd and listen to it at volume 18-22 for bose or 20-24 stock stereo. if ya listen to it loud, its pretty damn good.

4. Reason behind selecting the G35: Compared to most sports cars, this car is rarely seen on the road. I like the "nobody has it" appeal.

Re: Why did you buy a G35?
You're going to get skewed results that don't reflect the general G-owner population. I would venture to say that most of the owners here are enthusiasts and the majority of owners in general are not putting mods on their car. I think only a minority of G owners will be on the internet forums. You should send out a survey to a random sampling from Infiniti's list of registered owners if you want to get realistic results.

1. Age: 46
2. Sex: All I can get (actually Male).
3. Income bracket/ level: Comfortable (PM me for specifics)
4. Reason behind selecting G35: Looks, performance, luxury.
5. Something you would like to share about your G35 experience: I've had the car for about 4 months now, and I still can't stop staring at it. It's that good looking in my opinion. The car has become an obsession. Also, I've noticed that become more impatient and frustrated in heavy traffic since I began driving this car. I used to be pretty easy going in gridlock, taking the attitude that there was no sense getting worked up over something out of my control. But now, all I want to do is break out of traffic and drive fast.

G35MD: I would like to say something in response.
The results may represent only a certain segment of G35 owners, but they are in no way skewed, as long as I present the data in the context in which it was gathered (intenet forums), which is my intention.
This data will not be presented in a manner that makes it seem as though it represents all G35 owners.
As I said this project has been ongoing, I will look into getting information from Infiniti, such as a list of registered owners, but that takes time and I would not imagine it being easy for someone on my level of research to attain.
My maximum time to edit my original post has expired.

Since I am posting I would lke to thank everyone, who has participated and been in contact with me, I really appreciate it.
