Exclamation Im Havin a Problem

So i recently dropped off my g to have body work done, it was a 2 day job and the day i picked up my car i noticed something a lil different. What i noticed was that when i turned the car on the RPMs would shoot to 2K then drop below 1K and float back up and kinda settle at 1,100.

Usually my car didnt do this but i figured maybe it had to do with the car being inactive for a while so i didn't think much of it and i hoped it would just go away on the future start ups, but ofcourse it didn't.

it continued doing the same type of start up until the other day after a full day of driving (2 days after pick-up from body shop) i parked my car for an hour or so got back in, and the thing shoot up to 2K again then completely bogged down past 1K then completely died, anyone know whats the deal? any help would be much appreciated

That's strange... who did the work? Did they have to remove a lot of body panels? And would you have any reason to believe they did other things to your car?

the shop itself seems pretty reputable and i have called him back since and it doesn't feel like he is evading me or anything like that, the only body work done was to the front bumper, thats it.

chances are, he either had a joyride with your car for few days or its just your car being funky. Well check with the dealer if you think its a big problem.

Check your air filter. They may have restricted the air flow by either paint over-spray or perhaps had some masked off areas that they forgot to remove the masking.

Good point about them driving your car... any big change in its mileage before and after? Certainly no reason for them to drive it at all except maybe a few feet.

Do you know if they disconnected the battery for any extended period of time to do the work?

Well I had the same thing happen to me after I bought mine used and luckly it was still under warranty. The dealership payed everything. The mechanic said he has had some others with the same problem and mine didnt even light up the check engine light.

He replaced the Air Filter, Mass Air flow Sensor and I am not sure on the other part but it might of been the Throttle Body.

Seemed to resolve problem but now sure which part exactly did but he said he would do all 3, since he was not sure what it was. But problem was resolved. Hope it helps.
