Squeaking Seat?

I just noticed a small "squeaking" noise that appears to come from my drivers seat when going over certain bumps that cause the car to roll in a specfic way. It's really hard for me to reproduce the effect, but it's noticeable when it happens. It's not a huge deal, but I'm afraid that it might get worse and become annoying. My worry is that if I take it to the dealer and they can't reproduce it, am I wasting my time? Any thoughts on this one?

Re: Squeaking Seat?

I'm sure that this isn't the case with all Infiniti dealerships but I speculate that my dealership tries to get a bonus from Infiniti for doing the least amount of warranty work.

They will not perform any work unless it can be reproduced. It doesn't matter that it's such a widespread problem that Infiniti has issued a TSB to them because the TSB itself clearly states "If you confirm..."

The only dealership in my state has taken reproduce to another level and won't work on something unless they hear/reproduce it IMMEDIATELY before working on it. I've gone on test rides to reproduce, leave the car overnight, only to have them say they didn't even take a look because they won't have a fighting chance to fix the problem unless they hear it the same freakin' day.

Of course, they didn't tell me that before I left early from work to pick it up. When they told me they didn't even take a look, I thought I was in the twilight zone.

I don't and won't take my car in for anything besides the major services 15, 30K, etc. It's a waste of my time for any other 'warranty' work.

With all of that said, part of the problem is Infiniti's policy of replication. If a dealership takes the initiative and performs TSB work without replication, they are violating Infiniti's policy, even though they are doing the right thing imho.

Re: Squeaking Seat?

not sure, but i was getting a squeak from the leather rubbing against the plastic housing around the seat adjustments. I pulled that leather area back and could see a dark mark where it was rubbing. A little leather cleaner/conditoner and it was quiet as a mouse.

Re: Squeaking Seat?

I got the same problem myself. Cant figure out where it's coming from either cause I'm driving while it's happening. Very irritating having a sqeak on a new car.
