I was interested in getting some Volks TE37/LE37T, but I was wondering what the correlation or if there was one between lip size and offset. When I buy rims, do I ask for a specific lip size or is it determined by the offset?
Also, some of the TE37s look like they're concave and others look like convex. Is this because the way the person took the pic or is this something you can specify when ordering the rims?
Thanks for the help.

With the TE-37 and LE-37t the rears will be convex because of the offset and size. You should order a specific offset for your car. I think the people with our cars are running +22 offsets.

What about lip size? Do you specify lip size when you order the rims and is that related to the offsets? I understand that offset is the horizontal measurement from center of the rim, but I don't know how the lip size works.

Reading from the 2003 Ray's wheel booklet.
Standard offset for new skyline(G35) 19" wheels front +29(8.5inch) rear +35(9.5)(this is the offset that I picked.
Lowered 19" front +22(8.5), rear +22(9.5) *Fender may require some modification.
Special 19" front +22(9.5, rear +22(10.5) *Special fitment, wheel will stick out of fender, fender will require modification.
Hope that helps. I have the standard and am pretty happy. Wheels are alot wider than stock 18" but do not stick out of fender and look very nice after the 1.5" drop that I did.

But what about lip size? It seems like people have different lip sizes. What determines it's size? Can someone provide some input on this matter?
Also, I read that you can fit the 9.5f 10.5r without rolling the fenders unless the car is lowered. Seems to be a lot of controversy behind this, but is it true?

Can anyone comment on the lip size? If I get 8.5f 9.5r in 19" with +22 offset, is lipsize predetermined or can I specify a larger lip or...? If anyone can jump in, I'd appreciate it.

as a generalization, if you get the same wheels with the same offset front and rear the difference in the lip size will be the difference in wheel width. as an example, on my old car with 18x8 and 18x9 both with +45 offset the front lip was 1.5" and the rear was 2.5"

The way I understand it, the lip size is determined by the offset. if you and I both have TE-37's on the rear and they are both 19x9.5 but my lip is 3.5" and your's is 2.5" then the difference is the offset. I would go to the wheel section and ask the guys with the wheels you want , what size their lip is and what their offset is.
