Klubb I hope you knock on wood every time you talk about your clutch

With my luck, if I talked about how long and through how much abuse my clutch has lasted, it would go out the next day

i thought i remember reading once that u burned your clutch out a few times and had the tranny already replaced as well it was a clutch thread or something. maybe i'm thinking of someone else.

My tranny was replaced because of the defect it had just like 90% of the manual trannys on this board. As far as the burning clutch, yes i have burned the clutch on a steep hill when i just got the car little over 3 years ago. I have done about 6-7 consecutive launches with about 3 minute apart and never smelled or experienced my clutch burn or slip. Keep in mind my clutch has over 55k on it and over 100 hard launches and countless chirping 2nd and 3rd gears, it is still holding up very good.

I sure hope you're not trying to say that 90% of the people with manual tranny G35's on this board have had their tranny replaced already.

I have been in over dozen G35 meets and i havent seen anyone over 30k on their car with the stock tranny. If u havent got urs replaced consider urself lucky or ur time will come as well.

Or if you're approaching the 6 years/70,000 mile end of the powertrain warranty, consider yourself screwed if it doesn't go out before then

To be blunt... I don't believe your claim. And if it is true, the people that go to those meets must really drive their cars hard then. I personally know quite a few people with 6MT trannies in G-Coupes that haven't had a single issue yet and one of them even has around 90K on his car. To tell you the truth, the only people who I have heard of having issues with their tranny are from the forum... and for every person who says they had a problem with theirs, there's probably 20 people out there who don't have the problem(either on the forum or not on the forum). Plain in simple... people complain when there's a problem, but you don't hear about it when there's not.

Not to jinx myself, but I'm right about at 30K now and my tranny feels exactly the same as the day I bought it.

If 90% of the trannies on any one particular car failed, it would be one of the most massive failure incident/trends in automotive history... and would probably be held in the same regard as the Pinto with their explosive first gen gas tanks.

I don't know about all that... I've never heard of anyone dying due to a failed transmission... A little illustrative hyperbole, perhaps? haha

i was wrong about the percentage. But the my tranny replacement was not a direct result of my style of driving. If that was the case dealer would ask many questions before doing the actual job. The buttom line is that there are plenty defective 6MT trannys no matter how u drive it, and that can not be brought up in the same sentence as me doing over 100 1/4 runs.

0-60 still has a lot of value to car enthusiasts in my opinion.

You run your G from 0-60 on a hwy? from a dig? I dont believe you...

and yes... 0-60 foot is VERY important...

basically 0-60 footer = how good of a driver am i?
qtr mile time - how mean is my whip

Not fast enough. Once I get my money right I'm going to get a 335i. German engineering is a notch higher than Japanese.

The new gen sedans will possibly beat the 335i stock - just get the chip for the 335 and you'll smoke almost everything on the road

Well given that some new sedans are running 13.5X, it'd be damn close. Although all I'm going off of are that I've seen 13.6 for the 335 in magazines and I'm sure that 13.5x in the G was especially quick factory (I think its "magazine" times are more like 13.8). Given times most people can reproduce, you're right a 335 is generally quicker than a 2nd gen Sedan.

Either way, just put a JB2R in a 335 and you'll have no trouble with, well, most anyone.
