Okay, so i did the "clutch remedy fix" posted on here.. and it works AMAZING. but i was driving and i just noticed something... i can bring the gear back to neutral without pressing on the clutch.. i don't know if that's normal in a G? or is my clutch not disengaging properly.. i mean.. even when I'm driving too.. as long as I'm not hitting the gas i m able to pull it back to neutral.. anyone know what going on? I'm at 29k miles on 1st clutch.. so i don't think it's the clutch... i don't abuse the car at all.. i mean i drive it and i do push it.. but i know the limits. Anyone know what's going on.. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Pretty sure all manuals do this if you're saying that you are just forcing the shifter out of gear, but I might be misinterpreting this. If that is the case don't do it, its ****ing horrible for the transmission.

I just wanted to know if it's possible.. cuz i don't remember ever doing that.. i never tried.. but yea.. it just seems to pop out fairly easily.. i have to admit that i did "pulled" it out of gear.. but i never "forced" it.. maybe im just paying super close attention since i messed with the clutch. im just paranoid lol so u can push it out of gear correct?

can anyone confirm whether or not popping it out to neutral from any gear WITHOUT stepping on the clutch is good/bad?

I think its bad for the car. I accidently pull my gear back with out pressing the clutch once on my old car. I'll never forget that noise After that there is weird clicking noise everytime when i shift.

I don't think that will hurt anything. When in gear, the motor and transmission are moving in sync. Assuming your not accelerating when you do it, pulling it out of gear isn't going to cause substantial wear and certainly won't grind the gears or anything.

Forcing it into gear without engaging the clutch is an entirely different story...

i've done that before and haven't done that mod, especially when i'm slowing down in a higher gear. it's not going to hurt anything

you can actually shift gears without a clutch if you know the sweet spot in each gear with the right speed and rpms, not a good idea tho

its bad, as you pull apart the gears without pushing the clutch down, there will be a moment just as the gears pull apart which will cause slippage and wear on the transmission

it doesnt hurt the tranny if you do it right. try giving it gas and release and as you release put light pressure into neutral. It should come out smoothly when the revs drop a little

1) It's completely normal to be able to disengage any gear without using the clutch, this is my 4th MT car and my previous 3 all did it too (87 Escort, 90 RX-7, and 99 Maxima).

2) Don't do it unless you're sure you know what you're doing. If you do it wrong habitually it will cause something to wear out and it won't stay in gear: I knew a guy that had an old Sentra that wouldn't stay in 5th unless he physically held the shifter in place.
