my rear quarter panels are slightly marked up; paint whole fender or touch up?
i have damage on my driver rear from an egg attack and passenger rear was scratched by a careless gas attendant and wasn't noticed until it was too late. a reputable shop says both rear windows need to come out and entire rear quarters have to be painted to do it "right." i was wondering if a decent job could be done by having a professional spray it to touch it up and then matching the clear coat finishes. i know it won't be 100% perfect, but i do know this same body shop does that sort of thing to touch up bumpers for inifiniti. you know, the cars that come off the transport with slight scratches. anyone here have this type of paint damage touched up?

I know its hard to believe, but the factory paint is much better than any body shop's paint process......If I were you, I would only do the minimum to fix the areas......the more factory finish you can preserve, the better you will be.
I had my front bumper repainted a while back, and they did a great job. Even the body shop the fixed my bumper said the same thing....Leave as much of the factory baked paint as possible.

i wish i could see more panels that have been touched up. perhaps this calls for a visit to the used car lot. if it was close i'd be happy with it. i'm not paying $1000 or whatever they estimated the repaint would cost. but if a touchup is largely noticeable then perhaps i might have to bite it and get the entire panels painted properly. has anyone here had their panels touched up? especially the black obsidian cars...
